i have been to several other treatment centers and also worked for a few as a tech and supervisor... when i came here i expected the same thing but was shocked to learn of things i have never heard of that actually helped me to stay sober. ACTUAL TOOLS I CAN PULL OUT AND USE WHEN TRIGGERED. i have been promised this several times but never have i ever actually been given actual coping skills. the lady who teaches DBT is a god send... her classes are powerful and she gives clients things to practice that for me have actually work. my therapist has pulled things out of me that i never thought i had the strength to share with another human which lead to an ultimate surrender and peace i have never known. the case managers are rock solid and make me feel seen heard and cared for. Banyon was the last house on the block for me.... I had burned everything down and expected to get clean and sober the same way i had tried 20 previous times but the staff and the group of men and women that were there with me literally saved my life. i HIGHLY recommend this treatment center. im writing this review with hopes that someone who has never been to treatment before will see this and let Banyon palm springs be there first and last... i Pray you dont have to do this as many times as i have had to do or burn everything down like i have. please give these people and honest shot cause they care and are the best i have ever seen in this field. If they can help me....a hope to die junkie/drunk... then they can help anybody (if you just follow and trust what they tell you)thank you Banyon.... you have given me the tools to be happy no matter what life throws my way

I was court ordered to go to treatment in order to get my boys back. RIVERSIDE COUNTY CPS hadn't provided me any real help. I was told of Ocean view I called and was able to reserve a bed. They required $150.00 and enough food for 30 days. I was amazed! The house manager J. Barger was awesome. I was informed of the rules,tested and accepted. They required and accompanied me to my court dates. Judge S. Ellsworth was pleased. I was unable to continue due to CPS workers failure to obey court orders of paying for the treatment. The staff at Ocean view assisted me with getting into the primary facility the S.H.A.W.L. House program. I was able to get my boys back and close the case. Ocean view SAVED MY LIFE! I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL TO BILL LURIE FOR HIS STAFF HELP AND HIS PROGRAM.

If you are like me, you have been tirelessly researching online or calling various sober living facilities - feeling heartbroken, lost, desperate, and confused - all while facing a decision which would directly impact the livelihood of a loved one. No pressure, right? My family member had just completed rehab outside of Los Angeles and needed a sober living facility with good and honest people to help them adjust back to real life. All I knew at this point in my search is what I wanted for them. I was looking for a sober living facility where they would have focus on the program, be given the direction and guidance of counselors with care, be introduced to meetings around LA, all leading up to the goal of steering them back to a healthy and positive life. The real (and scary) answer is these places are hard to come by. I unfortunately saw that first-hand. Now to get to why I NEEDED to write this review. Nexus. 5 letters that make up a word I want to shout from the rooftops with such profound gratitude. Yes, my family member chose to do the work, take it seriously, make it a priority in their life, but it is also about who you surround yourself with. Nexus gave my family member a community bringing people into our lives which have changed it for the better. Nexus gave my family member counseling which has opened them up to realizing their true potential without the need of drugs or alcohol they are just grateful to be walking in their shoes sober. And one of the most important attributes of Nexus you may ask? Those that run the program. Halim, Johnnie, Rob, and Dano. I will never forget the first night I talked to Halim. And I say talked as if it was only one time. We spoke at least 10 times and he was a savior. He picked my family member up from somewhere where they were drowning and brought them to the Playa house. I was in a different state and was powerless but Halim was there. How could I have been more fortunate? I am forever indebted to the people that work at the Playa house (house manager, supervisors, techs, case managers, drivers) and the program Nexus has brought to our lives. Nothing is more important to me then family, and Nexus gave me my family back.

From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and cared for. Having a private room was a huge plus it gave me the personal space I needed to focus on my recovery while still managing my work and school. The fact that I could use my phone and laptop was incredibly helpful, allowing me to stay connected and on top of everything while receiving the care I needed.The staff were incredible not only professional but genuinely caring. We were very lucky to have found this place for our son. They guided us from the beginning, because this was our first time navigating rehabilitation, and we immediately thought this would be our best option given the duration of the program and the living arrangements based on age. From the time we first contacted New Life to today (our son is a graduate from this program and about to move out of the recovery home. He graduated after 14 months and moving out after 17 months.), it has been a blessing. This program not only prepares these young men to achieve sobriety but it also gives them the tools to sustain it. This program provides parents the support to stay involved in the recovery process and embark the family in a healing path (something that seemed impossible in the midst of addiction). As our son actively works the program, we, parents, are given the tools and education to repair and foster healthy family dynamics and strive for a joyful life. We saw our son mature, we matured and learned a new way of life by setting boundaries for our adult child while loving him unconditionally. The Canyon at Santa Monica has an amazing program and treatment team! Antonio and his group of therapists, facilitators, nutritionists, psychiatrists, etc. are not only very capable and helpful, but the entire staff really care about the well-being and success of the clients. I have been in other IOP and PHP programs in the past, but the Canyon is hands-down the best. Besides skill about addiction treatment, they also pass along general life skills that most people could benefit from.
