About Renewal Lodge by Burning Tree

Burning Tree Lodge is an addiction recovery center in Elgin, Texas. They offer an intensive short-term inpatient program for adults affected by substance use disorders. This 30 to 90 day program delivers comprehensive addiction treatment within a condensed time frame. They also provide dual diagnosis treatment. This serves individuals simultaneously dealing with addiction and mental health conditions.

They’re known for high quality, individualized and ‘whole person’ substance abuse treatment. This is made possible by their innovative recovery approach that incorporates evidence based therapy and mindfulness in recovery. This is in addition to addiction medicine and 12 Step immersion.

Mindfulness is by far the most outstanding feature of their recovery approach. Mindfulness makes you more aware of your behavioral patterns, cravings and disruptive thoughts. This increased awareness facilitates better decision making and emotional regulation. These are essential in maintaining lasting sobriety.

Combining mindfulness and the traditional 12 Step program enhances the efficiency of both recovery methods. This ensures a dynamic breakthrough in your recovery journey and successful rehabilitation.

The facility boasts a multidisciplinary team of licensed and highly skilled care professionals. These range from psychiatrists to counselors and clinicians. These experts are compassionate, supportive and committed to your recovery journey.

During the program you’ll participate in various individual and group therapy sessions. This helps you build solid coping skills and relapse prevention strategies. You’ll also benefit from psychoeducational lectures and gym and recreational activities. The program also involves medication management, biopsychosocial assessment/evaluation and lifetime alumni events to support ongoing recovery. Significant emphasis is placed on the family as part of the treatment process.

The facility also provides tailored aftercare plans to equip you with the tools to prevent relapse and maintain lasting recovery. This may include outpatient programming, medication management and structured transitional living.

outpatient iconOutpatient

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient, or residential, drug treatment requires that the person receiving treatment for addictions or substance abuse, residing in a facility for a designated length of time. Inpatient treatment may be either short or long term depending on the needs and situation of the individual. Both frameworks involve similar therapies. Inpatient treatment does not include detoxification, as that usually occurs in a hospital environment, but follows it.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Residents of a sober living home in Texas reside at the halfway house with others who have agreed to abstain from substances and practice sober-living skills. heart-hands iconIntervention Services

You can partner with intervention services to plan and execute an effective intervention that educates your loved one about addiction and encourages them to get the treatment they need. Many rehab centers offer intervention specialists who can facilitate the intervention and help with a seamless transition to inpatient rehab for treatment.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Couples therapy helps couples learn to control emotions, trust each other, and communicate more effectively. It can be useful for short term intervention for a specific issue or for working on the relationship long term.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

nutritional-therapy iconNutritional Therapy

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

When used as recommended, nicotine replacement therapy in Texas provides enough nicotine to help you avoid severe cravings and withdrawal symptoms after quitting smoking. This increases comfort so you're less likely to relapse into your smoking habit.

Very toxic culture. This is not the place to send your loved ones. I dropped off my wife entrusting staff to take care of her. From the moment she arrived she was belittled, called a puppet for following directions. Even her Burning Tree counselor said Burning tree was v ... Read More

Used to be a good place that my husband really liked back in 2020 then they rebranded it and hired a bunch of souless looking people that just care about getting your money. My husband asked if he could change his shirt because he hasn t gotten to change in a while and felt icky he said can I change my shirt and the lady goes can you wait a couple hours with a really rude voice. This is first impression, no welcomes or anything like that. Looks like other people completely agree on the reviews. It s obvious people are putting positive reviews with fake accounts to get their rating up. No one who cares about their mental health or getting sober should trust them now.

Burning Tree Renewel Lodge is the best place for rehab. This was my first and by the grace of GOD is my last. The staff here is amazing. The Recovery Mentors are the best and very well knowledgeable, the counselors are out of this world. The medical staff is the best ever, especially Aaron and Kristi. Those two kept my family informed in Pearland when I was lifeflighted to Austin after being intubated due to Asthma. The front staff is by far the most amazing and also out of this world. I was able to complete the steps twice and learned from every step when I completed the steps the second time. Even had the spiritual awakening. If you want to take your recovery serious and put in the work and also do it, this place is for you. Don t go by the negative comments just see for your self. Burning tree literally saved my life.Mollie MillerSpecial Ops FF/ Paramedic

the ranch in kaufman is a great place to send family members if you don t want to heal your family. Really sad. Would never send someone here. Addiction requires a systemic family approach not an abusive lockdown. I really hope they change their program, hire more sympathetic staff, and upgrade facilities. This is in terms of the ranch location where you are required to sign away your rights to admit. I walked an hour down a rural dirt road to get out

Without a doubt one of the best treatment centers in the country. As a patient I only witnessed negative thoughts and reviews from people who didn t take their recovery seriously. If you want to live and are willing to do so by any means then this is the place.

The nursing staff was great. Especially Aaron. The staff however lacked empathy and passion. I only saw a therapist one time and then was told I had to transfer due to some medical issues they couldn t handle . I ve never been anywhere that I was so miserable. Staff definitely had their favorites and made an effort to spend time getting to know them, but pretty much ignored everyone else. I work in treatment and know that empathy and compassion are absolutely necessary for ALL clients. Getting sober is hard enough without being made to feel as though no one cares which is exactly how I felt while I was there.

I wouldn't suggest going here if your court ordered and are able to choose a rehab. I got asthma and it gets really bad when mixed with allergies like dogs. I usually take one or two puffs before I go to bed. I woke up wheezing and struggling to breathe and because the inhaler recommends a puff every 4-6 hours which doesn't matter they wouldn't give it to me. Any form of habit there they are totally against not mention u can't make ANY phone calls to loved ones when lonely. And it's a holistic approach to addiction which obviously doesn't work

Daughter got HSV-2 here and was asked to leave early. By the time she left, she was on 7 different psych meds! Took a while to wean her back down to the 2-3 psych meds her psychiatrist now prescribes her 2 years later. She has BPD (much better now given her DBT education) which is why I didn't give 1 star. Ie, she is half to blame given it takes 2 to tango, but where was the oversight?
