Dr. Michael Johnson collected $2500 for a psychological assessment for a relative and never completed it. Lied about its completion and delivery status. Seems to be a common scam for him. Kept telling my relative it was "almost finished" and told his attorney it had been emailed, but must have been caught in spam filters. He then said it was stored on a flash drive which had become corrupted and the data was unrecoverable. Contacted him requesting a refund, to which he agreed, but lied about actually mailing. Finally picked up a check in person. This seems to be a common scam for his office. Avoid at all costs. Highly unethical practices.

Accepted Insurance

Broad Ripple Counseling Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

When you participate in cognitive behavioral therapy in Indiana, you'll learn to recognize distorted thinking that has led to substance use. Your therapist will help you establish new patterns of thinking and healthy ways to cope with challenges that don't involve substance use.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

They don't offer any kind of real treatment, they depend on clients who are court-ordered so don't make any kind of effort in providing quality service. They are only interested in the money and not about the people.

Courtney Brinkers is a highly intelligent and very well qualified therapist. She is considerably better than most. Courtney is one of the rare evidence based therapists who provides tangible methods for change and improvement. She s not going to mindlessly listen to you for an hour talk about your family tree and allow you to come back time after time with no real sense of direction. She s the right mix of listening and speaking. She is straight forward and will challenge you when needed. If you are there to see her because you actually want to change and grow then there is no better therapist.

Refuses to give itemized bill to patient. Somethings off about this place. We re likely to see it on the news for fraud at some point.

They are more than happy to take your money for a psych eval but will then never produce the report. Highly unethical. Staff, including front desk personnel, are highly unprofessional and unethical. When you call to inquire for an update you will be treated as an inconvenience, a nuisance or ignored completely. So if you are at your lowest point in life and you want to feel worse and spend lots of money- by all means go here. But if you are looking for help, for professionalism, and follow through I wouldn't go near this office.Doc had to be subpoenaed by the court to even produce the report and it is still not done. Asked for a referral and am ignored, again.

I have been seeing Doc for about 3 years now, and he has been extremely helpful in my mental health journey. There is no doubt in my mind that he is an expert in his field. There are plenty of other mental health specialists that are covered by my insurance, but I pay full price to see him because he is legitimately excellent.

I had to do drivers education classes with Courtney and an assessment to do so. The receptionist lied to me about her getting into a car accident after she had to cancel my appointment and then she was over an hour and a half late to the next. How she has a degree and the competence to have a job in this field is beyond me. The classes were suppose to be 20hrs and in her words, covers them in 12 and that seems illegal to me. She couldn t answer my questions about if my state would accept her paperwork and never responded to them. She would let us out of the classes early and said she d write off the remaining hours because she didn t want to be there. The entire and business is a joke, how this place has gotten up from a one star rating since I was there in June to a 2.6 is beyond me. I would never recommend this place to anyone
