The staff in many departments talk horribly about the patients and then become rude when being asked a few questions. Very unprofessional from nurses, security guards and doctors. The night shift for sure hate their jobs. It was very surprising to me to have witnessed the negativity in many aspects of the hospital. Now I know why, when I hear stories about Bridgeport Hospital to actually believe them. I know the medical field can be stressful but there wasn t much for them to actually feel bad for. The customer service as a whole team needs to be re-evaluated. I am honestly disappointed.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

They took great care of me, I was so happy with them! They’re very patient and willing to make each patient feel the best through this process. They went over everything before I accepted it so that we were all on the same page. After I finished my program, I got a card wi ... Read More

my throat was literally closing yesterday, i was generally taken care of in the ER but once it was time for me to leave, all pharmacies were closed. that s fine. i go to the one they called it into this morning and they failed to see if it would be open today. it was not. fine. it took several calls to simply talk to someone that could help get it transferred. after an hour they managed to figure it out (or so i thought). i get to the pharmacy and they inform me nothing was ever called in. i call the hospital 3 more times to finally get through to someone again and they had the audacity to be upset with ME LMFAOOO. be upset w yourselves for your inability to complete a simple freaking task.

I don't think I will ever go back to that hospital. I had a very disturbing incident with one of PA nurses I can't believe how insensitive she was she basically claimed that I went into the bathroom to take pills. this was on October 7th 2024. I was in for the hospital to have a stent put in my heart which thank God I didn't need. she talked about how I got out of bed and I put a jacket over my head which does not make an ounce of sense and when another nurse was questioned she saw in regards to the jacket being on my head. she replied that she never saw me with the jacket on my head but the implication that I was going in there to possibly get a high because I am in a methadone program and having sober many many years but some on that. I am not a bad person and that's how she made me feel

Nurses on the observation unit were rude and condescending. It took THEEE HOURS for the male nurse to come to help me after FOUR CALLS!I was also coming off/detoxing from a medication that was causing me psychotic idealations, paranoia, anxiety, and a tendency to act different than your normal behavior. Unfortunately my room faced a closet that had a window in my side of the door AND the other side. I looked up and saw a worker peering in the window and it looked like she was looking at me and I stared what are you lookin at . Well another nurse heard me, stormed into my room and chastised me for speaking to an employee like that. I was so taken aback at how she spoke to me that I didn t have time to think and just apologized and said I was very sorry. When the nurse came in to give me my pain medication(wasn t even my nurse and it looked like my nurse was assisting another patient. Please remember I asked for pain medicine two hours before. I asked for something else four hours and six requests before and still no nurse. Of course I had it with him and was pissed. I guess he sensed that and sent in another nurse, but that s a story for another time. Please continue to read the rest in the next review with the same title and/ or rating.
