I attended this TBS in late 2019, I believe mid-October thru December, and I had a miserable experience.First things first. There's a faade of happiness that the staff expects from the students, who put on the mask to please the adults. In reality, this only hurts the students more, and stunts their growth.BCA operates under a tier system, where moving up in the tiers determines your freedoms and privileges. While this works in settings where there is proper support, and student's internal issues and student-staff issues are resolved promptly and with a solution that benefits both parties, this succeeds. BCA does not. This school makes you (or your child, to parents) sit in your issues and mental disorders without support from almost any of the staff, OR therapists. This results in a feeling of blandness, of being stuck and unable to climb. Not only this, but it's a system designed to make everybody stay in the facility longer. Then there's the pretentiousness. Specifically, I remember one of the staff members who was teaching while I attended claimed he had been in the military. When two students who were passionate about going into the military asked him a question that anyone who's been in the military should know, he was unable to come up with even a slightly convincing lie.The staff, and therapists specifically, accidentally/intentionally misgendered the two transgender students we had at the time, despite numerous requests from both of them to call them by the correct genders and names. I shared a therapist with one, and said therapist even gave me the dead name of said transgender student, as if gossiping or trying to make me disgust them. When my parents made the decision to tranfer me out to a new facility--because my growth was stunted, and despite my best attempts, I was not happy there--the FIRST WORDS out of my therapist's mouth were as passive-aggressive as they come: "If we had known this was going to be a transitional facility, we never would have accepted you."Just to put the cherry on top: only the sciences teacher and the school overseer (the lady who assigned you all your classes) would talk to me. I was blatantly ignored by both administrative staff and therapists, and teachers and RAs would only talk to me if they absolutely had to.To summarize: this school is abusive and miserable, and the staff care more about their profit than you or your child's well-being.

The defining element between the pessimistic drivel that is in these comments and the positive messages is acceptance of what you did to land yourself at BCA. Granted you were forced to be there, and yeah some rich shmucks dump there kids at places like this.In the event that one embraces their situation, and takes advantage of all the opportunities in their surroundings (in the program at BCA) you develop in unfathomable ways. The growth that awaits the individual that accepts the program is incredible. The dissatisfaction you find in these comments are from those whom resisted and rebelled from help, and the chance to change into something far greater than what they are. Simply put, those same bitter children chose hate every time. That choice turns habitual and apparently does not stop.Choose life, and engage the struggle.

BCA is one of those programs where lazy parents who refuse to try, send their kids here as an easy way out so they can live their lives. There s a reason why some peer groups have suicide rates as high as 60%. The scars and PTSD are permanent. These programs are for profit, and they will say anything to keep your child here.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

To Amy Rosewarne - the reason you think this place is great is because they monitor all phone calls and read all outgoing mail. You will be punished for saying anything negative about BCA or any of the CEDU/Syanon schools. Seriously, you will have a totally broken relationship with your daughter when she becomes an adult and you finally learn what abuse she endured. Again - they sit next to you during phone calls. If you want to shovel snow or dig holes, sure start to say what's really happening there before they hang up the phone mid sentence.
