Had a colonoscopy on 11/5/24 @ 6:30am, with Dr. DiMarino. From walking into this spotless hospital, I was greeted warmly by all the staff I came into contact with. Procedure was quick and painless. Dr. DiMarino and his staff couldn t do enough for my comfort. Much faster than Jefferson in Center City. Just a smaller volume of patients. Very organized and again, every member was friendly and cared. If you ever have GI problems, you won t find a more caring or smart doctor than Dr. DiMarino with a bedside manner second to none!

Today I visited Jefferson ER in Cherry Hill for shortness of breath, along with a few other symptoms. I was brought in by a friend who advised me I had collapsed upon arrival due to weakness. It seemed like forever until someone bought out a wheelchair, even after making eye contact and SEEING I was in need of one. The waiting room was very crowded and the smell was absolutely horrendous. Someone apparently relived themselves in the waiting room and the cleaning staff did not clean it until another patient in the waiting room, went up to the front desk to request to have it cleaned up.Upon intake at triage, the staff was not very friendly, and one of the techs rolled their eyes at me. After another two hours of waiting in the waiting room, I was finally brought back and seated in the hallway on a stretcher while there were two other rooms open. I understand an ER can be very busy and rooms are based on priority and need, however the way I was treated in JEFFERSON ER, I will never return, I rather drive to Virtua. Three nurses were unable to stick my veins even after I advised them that I am a hard stick and they usually use the Ultrasound to see my veins; they completely disregarded me, especially the third person that stuck me. She was nasty after she unsuccessfully did not get my vein, she stormed off( she also blew that vein btw, one of the biggest veins that I had to offer). When I told her she was fishing with the needle in my hand, she denied it even though I COULD SEE HER DOING IT!The attending doctor hardly gave me a chance to speak, I felt rushed and overwhelmed by the fast rapid questions when I m already in distress. While I m trying to explain myself, I can hear him huffing and puffing - very inconsiderate and unprofessional. When I advised one of the nurses of what could be the issue, she said uh huh .They also documented the WRONG height and weight. I did not give them that information that was documented, I have no clue where they obtained some of those vitals from. What if medication needed to be prescribed and you had the wrong vitals? They documented that they administered saline, they DID NOT. They did not do anything to me or for me aside from an EKG which I never received the results of. And my insurance SHOULD NOT BE BILLED FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED!!I felt like I did not matter. They were not able to draw my blood. They were not able to put in an IV and they expected me to just sit there while not one nurse or doctor advised me of what the next steps would be or what they were going to do since they were unable to do either task prior.I will be following up with my own doctors( not affiliated with Jefferson) because the care that I receive that Jefferson today, I will not refer anyone to go to Jefferson ER. I will not be back to Jefferson ER. It was an absolute awful ER experience. I m so disappointed in that treatment I received today.Additionally, nurses shouldn t be able to cover up their last names on their badge. If I am being treated by you, I should be able to see your full name for reference.FYI - staff should be very mindful when making jokes or talking about patients. You never know who is listening!

Dr. Gordon Brown spoke with my mother on October 18, 2024 and explained she had stage 3 bladder cancer to my sistersbased on films from September 25th. He saw her in October. There was no further examination or ultrasound performed to confirm her current status. He did not explain any differences in her time between September and October and the drainage of her Foley bag or her nephrostomy bag. This Dr. Gordon Brown, DO did not not recommend changing the Foley catheter. He dismissed her like she was annoying him. Is this the poorly maintained doctor/patient communication accepted by your facility?

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
A program offered days and evenings that runs for approximately three-and-a-half-hours. Patients attend a combination of psycho-educational and psychodynamic groups. Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
inpatient iconInpatient
They offer two acute levels of care (the Short Term Care Facility and the Open-Side) at the West Pavilion at Kennedy - Cherry Hill, a 35-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. Each level offers individually tailored treatment plans for adult patients. The treatment team includes board certified psychiatrists, residents, interns, nurse clinical specialists, RNs, dance, movement and art therapists, social workers and mental health technicians.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. The Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient program designed to specifically address each patient's co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. Patients are taught tools for relapse prevention and recovery from addiction as they progress in their recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing helps clients find their motivation to change. It can be an effective method to work with clients who are angry or hostile or feel insecure about their ability to make changes in their lives. It is often used during addiction treatment or to manage physical health conditions.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

For best results, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) should be combined with other methods to quit smoking. While NRT addresses physical dependence, other quit program elements are necessary to address emotional and mental dependence. Together, these supports can help you successfully quit tobacco for good.

My wife got a knee replacement surgery at the hospital. I thought the hospital is great. The communication process is top notch. I was in constant of update about my wife's status. The surgery was done by a great surgeon, Dr. Michael Harrer. Both nurse Kevin and Patient care specialist Ashley were very helpful on assisting my wife. The hospital is very clean and inviting. The overall experience tells me that if we were in need of any critical medical help, we would definitely go here instead of our local hospital in Galloway, NJ.

The level of professionalism at this hospital has fallen off. I just overheard a conversation between hospital personnel and a patient. The patient's family member simply asking "how much longer will it be, we've have been here since 2pm" (keep in mind this conversation happened @ 12 midnight). The response was shocking.... "We are waiting for a room... Boomastic Side Eye!" With the rest of the staff laughing in the background. If this is how they treat their patient's in public, just imagine what happens when no one is looking! I know that there is a good chance that some PR person will come in here and provide a hollow apology, but in the end, nothing will come of it. Because in the end of the day its about the CASH and no longer about Patient Outcomes. If you value your life and those of your loved ones. Avoid going here at all costs. Travel a few minutes in any direction. You and your loved ones will be better off.

I recently went here to get an ultrasound and the doctor was so rough and kept jabbing me with the device. I was in pain during and after my visit. She was very inconsiderate and had awful bedside manner. She dragged the experience out further just to talk to the nurses about the entire biology of the uterus and was getting upset with me for being in pain. I have had this ultrasound before and the nurses were so nice and gentle. It was very disappointing.

My doctor sent me to the emergency department after an abnormal ekg. Upon check in the pct performed an ekg with metal on my body AFTER I informed her. She said it s okay then proceeded to place the stickers on my abdomen. She was white and was training a black pct during this process. The first thing the doctor, also white, tells me after that is she knows I had an abnormal ekg at the doctors office, which was performed without metal on my body, but she s here to prove there is nothing wrong. After this the nurse, also white, assigned to draw my blood forced the needle so deep into my arm that the needle was bent when she finally removed it sending me home with bloodwork showing abnormal results and a false ekg after stating everything was normal and I m fine yet somehow I have to remain out of work for 5 days and still have to see a cardiologist for follow up. During the hours of being in the ED they treated white patients with care and respect while being dismissive and talking about patients of color every time they went back to the nurse s station. In the 16 years I spent working as a licensed caregiver I have never seen such a monstrous and flagrant display of racism and malpractice. Never again.

If I could give zero stars I would. I was treated so poorly in the emergency room. Nurses and security talking about me and laughing. Walking by and giving peace out signs. I will never step foot here again!!! My arm is so bruised because the nurse couldn't find a vein. Just awful! Go to virtua

This was my first hospital visit in my adult life (I'm 63) and, truly, I was pleasantly surprised. EVERYONE was so friendly and helpful... I felt seen and heard, as though they genuinely cared about me. Love my doc -- Dr. Rivlin -- and Emily who helped me prepare for surgery was a true delight. THEN... They even sent me home with a get well card signed by each person I had met. And I loved the oven-baked blankies! The hospital staff helped make a difficult situation much more pleasant, and I thank God for that. I had a tumor removed from my hand and the tendon repaired.

Excellent, beautiful, clean hospital. Very organized and efficient. All the staff, from doctors to reception, are amazing. Small note is that some of their imaging rooms don't have central AC and in the sweltering summer rely on portable AC units that struggle to keep the temperature below 78F. This is probably not an issue for most of the year, but with summers getting hotter, I don't think they can continue to have these small room cooling units do the work of a larger central AC system. I have only seen this to be the case in the imaging rooms. Everywhere else was nice and cool.
