About Bible Baptist Church

Bible Baptist Church Reformers Unanimous in Fairbanks, Alaska, is a faith based addiction treatment program that steers individuals back toward God. It also serves as a support system within the local church. They assist not just the person in treatment but also their families.

Participants gather every Friday at 7 p.m. to discuss their programs. This includes the Teens-n-Transition group for young people struggling with addiction. They think it’s a good idea to keep the younger participants apart from the adults so they won’t be exposed to specifics about issues that the adults might be handling.

There are three talks in their Friday night schedule. First they talk to God. Two methods are employed to achieve this. They start off by saying a prayer. Students are then given the chance to share their triumphant stories about how God has changed their lives. This serves to give encouragement to other students and give credit where credit is due.

The second conversation is between participants. Students are provided with an opportunity to share how their lives have been transformed by God. They hear accounts of people being healed by God’s intervention. They hear stories of triumphant days, weeks, months and years. Second, they divide into smaller support groups where they can share blessings and burdens with one another. A counsel leader is in charge of each group. Personal counseling is offered to those who require it. During this time students review their completed assignments and support one another on their path to recovery.

Thirdly, God speaks to them via the proclamation of his word. After their Friday night meeting they have their happy hour or fourth talk right away. It is a time for all students to socialize with one another in a laid back setting. Everyone present at the meeting receives dinner every Friday night.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During drug rehab in Alaska, you'll receive a combination of medical and psychotherapeutic treatments that are designed to treat drug dependency. The goal of drug rehab is to break this dependency and help you develop the skills to maintain a drug-free life.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

This place gets a lot of hate for simply preaching the truth without apology. They truly show the Love of Christ and have a passion for souls! Good solid Bible preaching. Took me in like I was family.

Wonderful church that genuinely loves people. They have proven it and continue to prove it every week as they help people across the street and around the world, despite even the people they have helped being ungrateful and hateful. They bravely continue on, making a positive impact in their community. They care about people of all ages; those forgotten about by the community - and they serve without thinking about themselves. Our experience here was only positive. The church members at BBC in Fairbanks were friendly, caring, polite, and genuine. You will never meet people more meek and nice than those folks at Bible Baptist Church. If only others in the community would strive to be more like them, the world would be a better place. They sacrifice to give to the needy, while some sacrifice others to get what they want.Great church here. We recommend that you attend and experience the good music, great preaching, and godly fellowship.

Great Church to go to. I visit it everytime I go to Fairbanks. Pastor Duffet and his church are kind, caring group of Christians. If I were to move to Fairbanks that is where I would go.

This church has many wicked things that have come to light recently and though leadership has been confronted, they refuse to address and deal with them appropriately. And at this point, the members haven t desired to address it or seek out the truth. Though I love the people and leadership here, as a previous member of 20 years, I strongly advise to avoid this assembly. If the church addresses and deals with the sin called out in them, I will update this review.Until then, I will remain vocal about the dangers present here.Edit:The Subtle Power Of Spiritual Abuse (by David Johnson & Jeff Van Vonderen) is very helpful in understanding how these things could come to pass without anyone being appalled. It is 100% applicable in this situation.

Watch Let Us Prey on HBO Max. That s what this church is. I attended a few times as a guest when I was a girl and got chastised because my Bible wasn t King James Version, my dress wasn t long enough they said my parents were going to hell because we were going to a church that sang worship songs rather than scripture songs . They preach a gospel of fear, judgment, and chauvinism, and that is not like the Jesus I know.
