disorganized and unprofessional and perhaps even outright cruel. routinely do not bother to return patients' phone calls. I left messages and voicemails for different therapists, kept calling for a week every day - they did not even bother to acknowledge that they got my phone calls. had to call their crisis line as a result.... Obviously I asked for a discharge... Now they are refusing to discharge me....

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If you have another option to choose a treatment center go to another place! If you or a loved one seek help, do not go to this place because they will only waste your time, energy and money.

The reviews speak for themselves. NEVER go here. I went for over a year and it was clearly a trap. No actual help with my situation, just oh we ll throw you in a group. They tried to convince me I was chronically mentally ill and would need their services long term. I got news for you, I left a little under two months ago and this is the best I ve done in nearly two years. They suggested I stay on INJECTIONS when my issues weren t nearly that severe. This is the kind of place that exists solely to pull funding from the state and the patients that have to go here genuinely need actual help and don t know any better. The therapists are inexperienced and honestly a little clueless. I didn t realize how bad this place was until AFTER I left and saw the bigger picture. Then when I left they blew up my phone acting like I never left. Not a pleasant experience dealing with these people. And no, I don t want to talk to your Client Rights Officer, or anyone from your facility ever again. I had to plan my escape, literally. Whatever you do, just don t go here. It made me worse and I m glad I was smart enough to leave. I wanted to give it a chance, and I did. Unfortunately this wasn t it.

This location was great - group and individual sessions (Mia and Jenna), and Jeffrey was a phenomenal prescriber. They all listened and HEARD what you were saying. My one complaint - and a big one at that - was about Dana Smart. She was my child's prescriber for 2 years, and in that time on several occasions Dana did not order refills in a timely manner, did not return calls to patient or pharmacy, and did not show up for multiple zoom sessions with her patient (without prior notice) and the office did not know why. I highly recommend BHCare but steer clear of Dana Smart.

If you are unfortunate enough to be have to deal with this company, I suggest you look for another option to treat your psychological needs immediately. While the therapists are good, they are powerless. Management is completely disorganized to the point of negligence. When the Town of East Haven closed the doors to their public mental services, I was transferred to BH care. Because I am low income, I did not have many options.I have taken certain medications over the course of my adult life. Through the help of doctors, nurses and therapists, I found the right doses and have been on a regimen for nearly twenty years that helps with my agoraphobia and anxiety. Let me repeat that; 20 years.BH care disregarded what worked for me and decided to remove my medications without my consultation. To say this is frustrating is an understatement.Look elsewhere if you need actual help with any serious mental issues.

Bloated with administrative positions, the best you'll get here is a copy paste message on your review to call one of the many administrators who are not in communication with each other or with anybody else who works in their buildings, it seems.

If I could give zero stars I would. The counselors they hire are great, but then they quit leaving their clients feeling abandoned(this has happened to me on more than one occasion). They discharge you before you find a new therapist leaving you without meds and on top of that, they send all of your medical records(without consent) to a new counseling center that they think you might be interested in. I m still waiting on a call back from a Lauren or Laura or whatever to go over what happened with my medical records, etc but you know, it s been weeks and it s not that important to them. I d much rather suffer a crisis alone before stepping foot in this place again. Proceed with caution

My prescriber kept me waiting in the Zoom room for nearly 20 min and I had to call the front desk. When she finally came online, she was accusing me of being a no-show saying she was sitting there waiting for me. She should've called me but I called first and then she brushed me off.She was acting very distracted and strange, her face was mostly off screen. This is not normal. Recently being released from Yale, in their notes they said my prescriber told them things about me that simply aren't true like I haven't made an appt in 10 months. Um, you cannot get your meds without being seen every 3 months. I requested a case mgr and to speak to the director but neither has called back. It's funny how in the reviews, they tell people to call, but I am still waiting. It used to be good there, I've been with them for 20 years. Dr. Liebmann was the best, but he has since passed away.

The worst place you could go. Rude uncaring, unprofessional,You re looked at as a paycheck not a patient going through struggles, just a revolving door to your recovery to mental health you're better off just staying MENTAL Because these people will drive you to MENTAL with all the games they play.
