Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients receiving care at an outpatient rehab remain in their own homes and attend treatment as often as daily, depending on the level of need. Outpatient care generally consists of psychotherapy, addiction education, life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many outpatient treatment centers provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient services. Some outpatient rehabs also offer ambulatory medical detox and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

While many people know it as "day treatment", a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers treatment during the day and allows you to live at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment every week, with a program duration that spans approximately 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs offer telehealth options. PHP treatment plans usually include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

Personalized therapy sessions for drug addiction emphasize understanding your background and behavioral triggers for substance use. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create an effective coping strategy and address underlying issues that clear the way for lasting change.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Both internal and external factors can put stress on a relationship. Couples therapy helps you and your partner work through those stressors and find healthy ways to deal with challenges as they arise.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition Therapy

Substance abuse negatively affects your nutrition. Some drugs affect your metabolism, while others affect how your body absorbs nutrients. Others suppress your appetite. To restore balance to your systems, nutrition therapy provides a healthy meal plan and training for how to eat the right foods to support addiction recovery.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy helps to build healthy habits and discover new interests that can reduce your cravings and your exposure to alcohol and drug triggers. Activities may include physical fitness, gardening, group games, and team sports. These promote relaxation, improve your mood, and encourage social interaction. Each of these is crucial to sustain long term recovery.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Worst hospital ever waited over 5 hrs in the ED even after the room was a sign because they had no transport, as a nurse you should not let your elderly patient sit there for just transport for over 5 hrs.

My dad was sent to the Beaumont Taylor ER by his primary care doc so he could have a CT & other testing to see if he had a stroke. Today is day 3 of him laying on a bed in the hallway of the ER unable to walk - no CT scan yet. It's like a third world country. And shameful how our military vets are treated. Shame on you Corewell!!!!

Pile of Confusion

I came here in May for a suicide attempt. When I tell you that they didn't follow ANY suicide protocols in the ER I'm being 100% serious. They let me keep all my stuff with me, didn't make me change into blue gown/socks and worst of all, left me totally unsupervised for nearly the whole time I was there but charted that I had a sitter. I work at a different Corewell hospital and often sit for suicidal people. This is totally unacceptable. Not to mention that the Dr. Put in orders for the same meds that landed me there in the first place. The nurse told me she didn't feel comfortable giving me the meds as I had already took a bunch of them. The only good thing I have to say about this was that when the staff did come in, they were friendly. I would recommend going to a different hospital for sure though. This isn't the first bad experience here either.

Absolutely shameful dump. Kept waiting here for 8 hours for test results. Receptionist is unprofessional and nasty. Not allowed to go get food or have it delivered here. If I leave, they won't send me my test results. I'll never return here.

Literally the worst ER I have ever been to in my life. Receptionist had an attitude and was beyond rude.Came in as advised for leg pain, waited 2 hours to even be seen. Got an ultrasound done and have been currently waiting for another 5 hours. Every other patient - including new patients - has been seen now or taken back besides myself, and I am beyond frustrated. I would go to ANY other hospital than this poorly managed circus of an ER.

This is by far the worst ER I've ever been to. I have a shoulder injury that I was in there on Saturday and I told everyone that my shoulder injury was the same thing as my surgery from last year was for. But All they did was 3x rays instead of a CT or MRI because X-ray showed nothing but bones. They didn't do anything for my pain and just told me to get a MRI now I have to go back to see the surgeon that messed me up in the first place. Don't waste your time at this hospital for anything!!!Now I'm not getting approved for the MRI that I have to get in case I have to go through surgery again but this hospital is basically giving me the runaround because they are nothing but a joke
