I called to make an appointment for a family member and was immediately told that if I don't have Medicaid they won't see them . How ridiculous is that. I guess the ones who have insurance aren't important enough to the facility. Nothing against a person who is struggling and needs Medicaid, but why should the rest of us who work hard and have health insurance not important enough to be seen too. Our tax dollars at work supporting Bear River Health yet we can't even utilize their services. Now I can see why every location of Bear River Health has terrible reviews. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Mr. Robinson, we appreciate your concern, and of course, you have the right to express your feelings. A large number of individuals served by BRMH are Medicaid eligible individuals, given our contractual responsibility to the State and the Counties we serve. Other priorities include individuals who are unfunded and those who may qualify for specialty grants and other resources. While some individuals who are insured otherwise may be referred to very qualified private providers in the community, we do provide service to many insured individuals. We also provide emergent service to any and all individuals in crisis, 24/7, free of charge, with a referral for follow-up care.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Addiction treatment at an inpatient rehab center is significantly more intensive than outpatient and community-based care. Clients remain at the facility for the duration of their program, though many centers offer supervised group excursions. Inpatient treatment typically consists of extensive psychotherapy, often including group and family counseling. Many programs also prioritize addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Holistic therapies, such as yoga, art therapy, EMDR, and meditation, are commonly available as well.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients often choose to enter intensive outpatient programs (IOP) when they exit inpatient rehab. Others turn to IOP as an alternative to hospitalization. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level care for clients in early recovery and those at an elevated risk of relapse, typically requiring them to commit to between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week. The most prevalent treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and holistic therapies, such as meditation.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services in a rehab aftercare program have generally been stable and sober for a period of weeks and months and no longer require high intensity treatment. Many have stepped down from inpatient rehab to outpatient treatment. Others have been discharged from formal treatment but need support in maintaining their sobriety. Clients typically work with their case manager and care team to develop a long-term care plan that aligns with their unique needs and goals.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs engage in rigorous group counseling, peer coaching, and personal development. Though 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation is not mandatory. The steps model promotes participants' emotional and psychological healing, which is presumed integral to sustained sobriety. Regular attendance at group meetings is expected. These meetings are free, anonymous, peer-led, and accessible day and night in most communities. Gender and age-specific programs and other specialized formats are common.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Each sober living home in Utah is a residence, not a treatment center. This setting does not provide clinical or medical treatment, but many residents attend recovery groups or outpatient rehab while staying at the home. The setting, also called a halfway house, offers a balance between structure and accountability and living in the "real world," to help people transition from treatment to everyday life.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If your friend or family member is suffering physically or psychologically from substance use but denies there is a problem, it might be time for a drug intervention in Utah. This process involves meeting with an intervention specialist from a facility's intervention services program. This specialist will interview family members to gain an understanding of the situation, then facilitate the intervention. Their expertise can prove invaluable in navigating this complex confrontation.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
In order to ensure your safety during the withdrawal process, rehabs offer 24-hour clinical care in Utah. You have access to experienced medical staff around the clock, and they can adminsiter treatments or perform clincial interventions that lessen withdrawal symptoms and make you more comfortable. Teatments can include medications, nutritional supplements, and mental health counseling.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from your body under the care of medical professionals. In an inpatient environment, you'll be monitored 24/7 by doctors, nurses, and clinical experts, who will help keep you as safe and comfortable as possible and administer medication if needed to treat any withdrawal symptoms. The process may take up to a week or longer depending on your needs, and is often at least partially covered by insurance.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The foundation of motivational interviewing in Utah rests on four pillars: partnership, evocation, acceptance, and compassion. The therapist collaborates with the client, encouraging them to explore their options and make informed decisions about making changes in their lives.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills training helps you handle the daily obligations of work, school, and family. It rebuilds your self awareness and self confidence so you can face these challenges with healthy coping strategies rather than succumb to relapse.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

When your body no longer gets nicotine from cigarettes, you will most likely experience withdrawal and craving symptoms. Nicotine replacement therapy is designed to ease these symptoms so you are more comfortable and less likely to relapse.

I am under a court order commitment which means I am legally required to attend therapy with specifically bear river mental health. If I wasn t under this court order, I would not be eligible to attend bear river mental health as I don t have Medicaid The medication nurse practitioner I believe mr brown is his name . that they have does not truly listen to the patient. He zones in and only focuses on the diagnosis aka label and disregards the symptoms all together. There fore, miss treatment medication wise is very high.As far as counseling goes Shaela glade and the other case manager at Brigham city house with bear river mental health (I can t remember her name will update once I remember) is the only reason bear river mental health is getting 3 stars. If not for them, it would be 1 star. Shaela specializes in EMDR therapy for C-PTSD and PTSD management. She is the best at what she does! If it wasn t for EMDR therapy with shaela, I truly don t believe I d be here on this earth. She LISTENS to you and not just your diagnosis aka label. She teaches coping mechanisms that aids you while going through EMDR therapy. She is truly a miracle worker and helps you get your life back on track! Key word helps YOU! She doesn t enable you in regards to trying to fix your problems for you like a lot of counselors try and do. In order to heal, YOU have to put in the same amount of effort if not more than your therapist. For those reasons I highly recommend shaela glade

I went here for 2+ years. We were working on a lot with my mental health. Then I moved and they IMMEDIATELY dropped me from their care. No resources, no calls. I m now struggling more than ever trying to find a pill doc and therapist. They don t care about the people. They care about the money and zones of care. I m a human regardless of where I live and they dropped me. Thanks a lot Joan, Kendal, and Dasia. I needed you and just because I moved, you can t help me? Don t go here they don t care for the individual. They care for the money and if you don t live in their zone, they don t care about your problems.

Awesome counselors, doctors & case managers. They helped me get back on my feet after escaping a rough marriage & rebuilding my mental & physical well-being; & aided in resources that helped me be a better mom. I d recommend Tiffany, Andrea, Cole & Justin to anyone. The receptionists at the front were always kind & helpful.

Had a therapist here for years when I was in school. She seemed alright for the first/two years ish, until she started saying that the way I dress wasn't the real me, and she also threaten to take me out of group therapy if i didn't start acting more sad during it. Also the first therapist i saw here during a crisis meeting said I needed to be put on antidepressants after talking to me for less then an hour. Mind you i was like 14 at the time, and that was the main Solution he came up with.

If you are not Medicaid they quickly dismiss you and refuse to even listen to why you are calling. I was told pretty much that my mental health took a backseat to them being inconvenienced. The one guy couldn t help me so he gave up on trying and gave me to someone else which after so many therapist in the past given up on me it triggered me even more and made it impossible for me to even try to open up to another. I get sick of opening these scars to have to have to reopen them again. So I felt defeated and closed off and why bother when I know once I start either they will quit on me or my required time with them will end just to start with someone else. The ladies at the counter when you come in are awesome and very friendly and welcoming. And both therapist I had are nice people and mean well but both of them it was common to get the call up that they had to cancel. I think both of them are great, but they don t know how to work with someone that is this far gone.**wanted to add at the hospital they diagnosed me with Borderline Personality. Which after doing research I felt that quiet BPD I have. But both therapist thrown out the term Bipolar (not that anything is wrong with Bipolar) I did my research and did not feel that I fit in that and when I brought up Borderline both of them looked confused (like the term was foreign to them) and dismissed it.I feel like the only thing they understand is bipolar.

Ive been a client here three times in last five years with three different therapists of which only one I thought was not helpful. Ive been in therapy my entire life and current is my favorite. Located behind (West) Brigham City Hospital. The regional manager in Tremonton if needed is done over a TV screen with two way audio. I left our conversation when she started ordering me around at a time when my living arrangements were brutal and not safe. Accepts only Medicaid.
