About Beacon Light Behavioral Health – Outpatient Services

Beacon Light Behavioral Health’s outpatient services center is located in Warren, Pennsylvania, just west of Conewango Creek. Their program focuses on community based treatment programs for clients of all ages. In addition to its outpatient programs for adults and kids, Beacon Light offers residential treatment plans and addiction prevention education.

The outpatient program allows you to receive treatment while continuing to live at home. You’ll visit the facility on a regular schedule to participate in treatment and meet with their care team. Treatment includes therapy (in individual, group, and family settings), medication management, psychiatric evaluations, and nursing services.

For children, the outpatient program can also be coordinated with their schools. This way, children can have a familiar surroundings while they receive treatment. You won’t need to travel to the clinic location.

Beacon Light also has a decision support center at the outpatient clinic. This individualized program can generate a health report for you, and give you a chance to discuss your medications, make better decisions, and learn about your strengths while addressing weaknesses.

Office overworks every single one of their therapists. They're poor at communicating important matters with not only the patient but between each other as well. They're the reason I ended up losing my job because they decided, without telling me, they would not fill out the clarifying, additional accommodation paperwork they'd been helping me with for months which caused the necessary needs to not go through and my job fired me because of it. I had to make an appointment after my HR reached out to me stating they heard no response from the office. I went to my appointment and at the end of it, I was the one who had to bring it up and ask. Then they told me they weren't going to do it. I begged them to reconsider because I knew I would lose my job and my job had already gone out of their way to wait for the paperwork. They refused. It was my only source of income for my entire household. Do not expect adequate help for disability accommodations. Therapists can't fill out the paperwork and psychiatrists seem clueless even though they're the specialist and you have to get the HR paperwork from the specialist treating you. ALSO. Because the therapists are overworked, there's a high chance you might lose your therapist with very little short notice and have to get a new one. The therapist ends up leaving the practice entirely. I know this because it happened to me. Just don't go. It's not worth it. They go back on their word, their own rules, there's no understanding when it comes to missing appointments due to illness/injury/disability.The ONLY good things I want to stress is the receptionist Katie who is always sweet, understanding, really tries and just is genuinely a good person. Jen is also an excellent therapist who really tries hard for her clients. Unfortunately, these two cannot save this awful practice and I hope they can move on to a different one that treats their patients and staff better.

Place is a joke, and knowingly disregard the law! And own policies, won't say names but worker knowingly lied on a government form, video was provided and semi handled. Then recently community worker lied that I wouldn't sign a form, she left out the important part when I asked if we could work on something that the treatment plan said they will do during our appointments, she didn't want to and gave a lot of unprofessional attitude simply because i asked,, she knew appointments are recorded, she made a claim that it's not her job to know or follow beacon lights policy and procedures, then even tho my medical insurance was billed because she takes me to and from home as we do things in the community, she ditched me at the friendship house, I was informed she claimed she wasn't feeling well is what she told friendship house. And never got a hold of her supervisor to get prior approval before her actions, friendship house stated it wasn't the first time the worker has done that, great to know! Will be sueing beacon light for Purgery, ada violations and disregard for policy and procedures, and fraud, as insurance said they were billed for services to the community and back! Also video of being told by higher ups, they hire back people who get fired because there under staffed, and know one wants to work for beacon light . Also dad baught a old beacon light building and upon beacon lights getting a different building at some point in there past,,all the patient private paperwork, names addresses, diagnosis, current - past medications emergency contacts workers, social security numbers individual medical insurance id numbers, and services assigned to clients, I have video of a mountain of non shredded or disposed of HIPPA protected client information, beacon light threw into the back room of the old building and just left it! I have mentioned that gigantic and serious problem, before to beacon light and they had no worry about it! I think they should work a little better then what they have been doing, I am very tempted to put all the pictures and video on the Internet as they have no regard to following local or government protections or laws! This is there chance to work with me as I have been trying to get them to realize how bad what they did is.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I was diagnosed and treated at Beacon Light for a mental illness that I didn't and do not have; By doctors that threatened if I didn't take the meds I would end up in hospital. Very traumatic experience.

I appreciate the help they have given my daughter, but they put her into a panic todayTook her to get her scheduled injection. We were about 5 minutes early for her 1:45 appointment. Thought we would have no problems making her 2:15 GP appointment a few minutes down the road. Two other people showed up for their injections early. They took both of these people before my daughter. This caused her to have to cancel and reschedule her GP appointment. The reason givin for taking others before her was, they didn't want to wait. So the fact that my daughter was on time made no difference. Then when she became upset that she couldn't get to her GP appointment she was told that what she was seeing GP for was probably cancer.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Waiting months to get son an appt with a Dr only to have it cancelled the morning of and 3 more weeks to get it rescheduled.I am not taking him for fun and as so called mental health experts they should know time is a very sensitive issue.

I can't rate this place high enough. I've been coming here for treatment for about 2.5 years now, and have gotten great treatment the entire time. The staff cares and genuinely wants to help. I had to go through a couple therapists to get to my current one, but she is an absolute godsend and I'm so incredibly thankful I was able to become her patient. Her name is Kristin, and she's absolutely fantastic. I always know I can reach out to her and get excellent advice. She actually took the time to work her way in through my incredibly thick walls I've built around myself, and put in the effort to actually understand me and how I work. She's never made me feel bad for anything, and knows how to push me to saying/doing what I need to. She's actually made me want to go to therapy. My biggest praise to sing for her is from earlier today, which spurred me to write this review. She just called me, from home, ON HER DAY OFF, to check on me because of an email I sent her last night. She took the time out of her day, unpaid, to call me and make sure that I'm okay and that I'm safe. I'll never forget that.

Was told by intake that I had ADHD. Went here for ADHD, was told I didn t have ADHD and refused treatment for it for over a year. Have had to fight for every single diagnosis. Eight months to get into therapy. I wouldn t recommend this psych even if they were the only psych available.
