About BayCare Life Management Services

In Clearwater, Florida, BayCare Life Management Services is an outpatient behavioral health center. This facility offers addiction treatment and mental health care. Treatment includes counseling and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

If youā€™re interested in a flexible outpatient treatment program, this one includes a combination of psychiatric evaluation, and individual, group, and family counseling. The medical team uses approaches like dialectical behavioral therapy to help you heal. Youā€™ll also receive employment assistance, case management, and pharmacy services. What I think is notable about this facility is that they also have primary care services, a care coordination program, crisis stabilization, and detox services on-site. They will not just discharge you after treatment, theyā€™ll make sure you have a plan in place to continue your recovery after treatment.

The case management services will help connect you to the necessary support and community services youā€™ll need as you navigate recovery. This outpatient facility is open during business hours and evenings to help accommodate a variety of schedules.

Former clients mention that the doctors and staff are knowledgeable and compassionate. Some mention their distaste for the long wait times for treatment and prescription refills.

I was reffered here by my other Baycare office that is amazing!! This office however since my first appointment has had multiple red flags.. Let me just say this. If the healthcare system continues to go on this way (BROKEN)! People like myself who are fed up are going to start getting nastier and nastier.. What is so hard for Dr. Offices to understand that if your "staff" isn't doing their jobs and shouldn't have those jobs in that feild then your office will implode and nobody will care at all about how great their Dr. Is anymore because the front desk staff or the management or Doctor's assistants etc FALL SHORT ON A CONSTANT BASIS. To the unprofessional woman who called me at 8:30 this morning on my day off to confirm my appointment I just rescheduled two days ago and then pretty much hung up on me because I said I would have to check my schedule I just woke up. (Woken up by her call). I left a voice-mail and if I don't receive a call back I will call back until I get your name and a confirmed appointment since I've read you guys like to cancel appointments without people's permission. I'll say this again, Do better and go work in a different field that isn't Healthcare! I can already tell this place is gonna be a problem for someone like myself who depends on her medication and appointments not being screwed up. Yikes!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called ā€œrational self-counseling,ā€ the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I could not be happier with this facility. The front staff is always helpful and kind. My therapist is Ben. Ben is wonderful. He is very professional, gentle and he always has the right thing to say. Since I have been going here, I feel much better with my mental health. Thank you!

The doctors and professionals here are wonderful, and it is saddening to discontinue treatment here. I am expected to do treatment Weekly/Biweekly, but there are 10-week waits, in which I was able to complete an entire Outpatient program with weeks left before even seeing my assigned therapist. July-December could only fit 2 appointments. I d suggest other centers if you have urgent/consistent needs for treatment.

Dr.Sriram is a good and compassionate doctor no complaints there , but unfortunately I m disgusted with how I have had to go through leaps and bounds to get my daughters needed medication refilled via the nurse extension for the past several days and no one can return a call or fulfill the request or even talk to us She is down to one pill, and we are waiting to be seen this coming week and I asked for a small refill to get her by until her appointment in a matter of days, which has been done before , so she doesn t have any type of withdrawal symptoms or relapse into depression, and cannot get a return phone call or anyone in the dept to pick up a phone to fulfill the request. The receptionist tried desperately to help me over and over the last week and today being that is a Friday and I needed to get this done before the weekend and they closed at two .but could not get anyone to respond as well or even submit the request she put in. Now I have to make sure my daughter will be OK for the weekend until her visit and it s just ridiculous!!!

Very disappointed. They never responded to the pharmacy regarding a refill for my daughter's medication resulting in her almost running out. They also never picked up the phone when I called about it, took me to a voicemail. Someone called me to confirm her appointment and when I told them I needed help they told me that was not their job and forwarded me back to a voicemail. We had to run to the pharmacy for an emergency partial refill. So much for "mental health" care.

Dr. Poole is my favorite psychiatrist that I ve ever worked with. He is so kind and knowledgeable. And he really takes his time with me and makes sure to listen to my thoughts and concerns. We make decisions as a team on my care. I like him so much that I referred my best friend to him and now she seems him also and loves him! Thank you Dr. Poole!

Terrible facility, an extremely incompetent and rude receptionist (Dr. Poole's) wasted so much of my time this month: hung up on me in the middle of setting an appointment, when actually setting the appt she set it for the wrong professional (didn't figure out till I was in the office, 45mins away from my house)terrible facility never coming back here.

The front office staff are horrible and would benefit from additional training in customer services. I called to change an appointment time. I was provided three time slots on a different day and told to hurry up because the phone was ringing. I quote "We are real busy on Monday mornings". The staff make you feel like an inconvenience and uncomfortable. They get overwhelmed easily and take it out on the customer. This is not the first time, I've experienced poor customer service with this staff. I've also witnessed them be rude to other customers and employees as well. It's a shame to see how the quality of care in the BayCare system has gone down over the past few years.
