About Avenues Counseling Center

Avenues Counseling Center, located in Saint Louis, Missouri is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. They offer flexible outpatient addiction therapy allowing patients to live at home while receiving regular treatment.

Levels of Care

Outpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatment

Mental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Substance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Courtney Hollingsworth helped me through several losses and overall mental health stability. Johnathan helped my husband and I through difficult times as a couple. We both don't know what we would do without both counselors. We highly recommend Avenues Counseling Center to anyone who may need help with something serious to even something minor. Avenues Counseling has been such an incredible blessing in my life. Before I found Lianne at Avenues, I had tried two other counselors. I was so incredibly discouraged in all of life - personally, professionally, spiritually, in my marriage, in parenting, in family, and in friendships. I wanted and needed help navigating everything. I cannot express how grateful I am that I made the decision to try it out. I have gained so much clarity, strength, and direction. During a difficult time when I was feeling overwhelmed , I decided to seek help from a mental health professional. I hit the jackpot! Nevi has helped me in so many ways. During hard times, our conversations provide comfort and understanding that bring me peace I couldn t find on my own. .Other weeks, I walk away with new tools to better cope with whatever the week ahead brings. Just walking in the door at Avenues is comforting. The atmosphere is beautiful and the counselors are experts in their field. Avenues worked with out family to figure out an insurance issue, and then they offered us tremendous services virtually that met our needs in an efficient and perfect way. The receptionist (I m not sure about her actual title) Ginny is very polite and compassionate, explaining everything in great detail. The provisional counselor I was assigned to, Latonya Allen on the other hand, was very short with me. I had to literally hunt her down to get an email reply after not receiving one past 48hrs. That s not acceptable in the healthcare field. Especially after I ve already been accepted as a patient. You d think she d explain the protocol and methods of meetings thoroughly upfront. However, she didn t tell me our appointment would be through Google Meet until three hours before the appointment. That should have been outlined in our first couple emails. In fact, she didn t reply to my email until I called the main office, and left a message for an office manager/or her supervisor, detailing my experience. Ironic isn t it? I decided to go with another company. But wanted to make my experience known. Not sure what the other counselors are like, but I d advise to stay away from that particular one. You guys really need to train your counselors to be more considerate and compassionate. I can t imagine this type of business thriving without that. It s inherent in the field.
