Sent my family there to deal with bipolar and group members told him he wasn't bipolar, even after being diagnosed by a phychiatrist. He really needed one on one because he is a follower and believes others. He went to try to save his marriage, needless to say he was convinced she was crazy and was never held accountable for his actions that causes her to leave.

Sent my loved one there for help with anger management and bipolar disorder. He is worse now than when. He went. He is a follower and listened to the people in his group tell him he was bipolar, even after he was diagnosed by a phychiatrist. He is still rude, disrespectful, and gets angry easily when you don't tell him what he wants to hear. He can't deal with the truth from the ones who really know him and love him. No one asked the family what we see and have to deal with. It's sad.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Choosing a drug rehab in South Carolina helps you overcome drug dependency, learn how to manage cravings, and obtain the tools needed to prevent relapse. This is accomplished through individualized treatment that addresses a full spectrum of physical, social, and emotional needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

If you struggle with managing your emotions, dialectical behavior therapy in South Carolina might be a good method of treatment for you. This form of talk therapy helps you learn to accept yourself while working on changing unhealthy patterns of thoughts and reactions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

There are four fundamental processes to motivational interviewing in South Carolina. Engaging involves careful listening to understand the client's perspective. Focusing involves reaching an agreement on the purpose of the treatment. Evoking is the process of exploring the client's ideas and motivations. Planning explores how the client can make changes.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in South Carolina, a licensed therapist offers techniques for how both partners can resolve conflict and manage challenges in the relationship. The couple may also engage in individual or family therapy for further support.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy helps you recover from drug and alcohol addiction by offering activities that improve your physical and mental health. When you participate in team sports, arts, and outdoor adventures, you engage in a positive experience that helps reduce your cravings and stress levels while giving you an opportunity to express your emotions.

My loved one had an assessment and a treatment plan was recommended. When she returned for the treatment, she was told there was no room. After several days of not having access to the care she needs, she is seeking care elsewhere.

I was at this facility for two weeks around September of 2014 due to drug abuse & a failed suicide attempt. The food was good, the patients I was stuck with were mostly chill & the bedrooms were okay (except the bathrooms; not only do they not have shower curtains, but I had to use the restroom one night and found a feces-covered towel behind the toilet). However, when it comes to this facility's doctors & nurses, they weren't really that helpful; in fact you only have a 5-minute session every morning and that was that. Nurse Leslie (I don t know if she still works there as of making out this review, but) not only did she snatch a paper I had written some notes down to use for my meeting with my parents like she didn t want them to know or see stuff that goes on within the facility's walls, but for sending me to the now-defunct Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health Center in Florence for 90 days, and lying to my mother that it is a wonderful place; it's kinda like a small college; I think he ll like it.

I've been treated at Aurora four times in the last seven months for suicidal ideation and severe anxiety and depression. I really enjoyed my stays there, regardless of the patients' behaviors and attitudes. The entire nursing staff were nice and helpful including the psychiatrists and nurse practitioners. The rooms and living area were sanitized and clean, the meals and snacks were overall delicious, and the staff answered most my questions.

I originally went here for suicidal idealation and anger managment. I stayed here five days, and the 3rd morning, they put me on a medication. I had told the doctor the medication he put me on was not for anger managment and that the side effects were not okay for me as i have heart issues. He completely disregarded, even stating you dont have anger issues, you are just very impulsive. This irritated me, but i took the medication anyway because they threatened to keep me there longer until i took it. The medication in fact did give me horrific side effects, and i did communicate this to every nurse on my unit. Nobody listened, they all laughed and stayed on their phones most of shifts. Also had extremely chapped lips and they refused to provide vaseline until the 4th day there, because it had grown into a sore. It was not clean, i got sick the first night i slept there. Please dont send ur children or relatives to this facility, it does more harm than help. I thought the reviews were exaggerating, but most defenitely its all true, plus some. I also missed my exams for school, and it mentally DESTROYED me. I got home worse than i left.

This place needs to be shut down. If you are desperate and needed help don't go here. The staff is a joke, it's more of a prison. People go here when they need help it mentally damages people more than they come in damaged. I'm not sure how the hell this place is even still running. I was admitted to Aurora 3 times in a 4 month time span the first time being 1-8-24 because of suicide attempts and self harm. All three times they released me while I was telling them that I had daily suicidal thoughts. The last time I was there I got put on unit restriction, finger foods, and paper scrubs because I tried to strangle myself and they released me three days later. I don t understand how they could say that I wasn t safe enough to wear fabric pants but they decided to release me. Along with that the psychiatrist who I saw was rude to me every time I saw her. She rolled her eyes at me every time I told her that I was having suicidal thoughts as though I was inconveniencing her. It is also incredibly easy to sneak things into the facility. While I was there I snuck in broken glass and razor blades which I self harmed with multiple times and no one knew.

I was admitted here 4/24/24 because the school said I need to be here. all the reviews are mainly terrible but I had a decent time. I was admitted for suicidal plans but what I really wanted to get help with there was higher self esteem and even when I told them that's what i hoped to accomplish there I never got that >:( After a while though I wasn't having alot of thoughts of dying, just going home. I still had SH thoughts but I haven't in a while so making progress :) anyway I did not like the food but I did like the cake, the grip socks weren't very grippy for some reason, and I did not like the lack of privacy but it wasn't bad, i expected it to be like this an it was. It wasn't bad, wasn't good I would never intentionally go back though I often felt lonely miserable and cold but ther were some times it was okay. Lastly I didn't like the daytime nurses some of them seemed very carless and mean to some of the kids, I liked the nighttime nurses and this one lady with orange hair I don't know her name but I love her she is awesome. And the guy named Gary he's cool.
