Levels of Care
Outpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. Once clients have completed the intensive outpatient program, it’s best to participate in outpatient treatment. During this phase of recovery, they will continue to participate in therapy sessions in order to work through any additional issues.
Intensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient treatment requires that clients attend day-long treatment sessions with their therapists. This program ensures that individuals receive therapy and the basic care they need during the early stages of recovery. With complete diagnostics and clinical assessments, they make clients as comfortable as possible during this time, and do so with compassion and respect.
Intervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
12-Step
The 12-step process is one of many methods they utilize at ATSI. The 12 steps incorporate spirituality and only asks that individuals believe in a “God of their understanding.” This principle of spirituality is aligned with our school of thought. Clients can benefit from believing in something greater than themselves, and it is this belief that can aid them in their progression through treatment.
Aftercare Support
At Addiction Treatment Services International™ (ATSI), we believe that addiction is a complex, destructive disease that not only affects the individual, but also their careers, families and relationships. Addiction ruins relationships and damages health as the primary focus in life becomes obtaining and using a chemical substance. Sometimes, a person needs to experience the loss of a career, a home, finances and/or family before realizing the damage addiction has done. Others realize early on that help is needed before things get completely out of control. Intervention and treatment are the best tools for overcoming addiction. It is vital to seek help as soon as you suspect that you or a loved one has a substance abuse problem. A one-size-fits-all approach to addiction recovery is not enough, because it fails to address the individual. For example, while one type of therapy may be effective for one client, another will benefit from a different approach. Here, clients are treated by experienced therapists who treat each client as a unique individual, not as a group all in the same. Our treatment programs are tailored to client needs, and works to navigate through all areas of life that are out of balance. At ATSI, clients receive a true continuum of care. Their staff members are there to guide individuals through the entire recovery process, from the first call to their admissions department to the time they complete their program. And since treatment doesn’t end upon completion, their aftercare support program ensures each individual has the tools needed to remain clean and sober, and to avoid relapse.

Treatment
Alcoholism
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug Addiction
Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.
Dual Diagnosis
Drug and alcohol addiction often go hand-in-hand with mental health disorders. In order to effectively treat clients, both conditions must be treated simultaneously. Each client is assessed during the admissions process in order to identify any co-occurring disorders, and to develop a treatment plan that will address both substance abuse and behavioral health issues, such as depression, anxiety or trauma.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse
A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.
Opioid Addiction
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Clinical Services
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a highly effective treatment modality in which therapists and counselors work to challenge the thoughts of individuals struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health issues. CBT is evidence-based, which means it is scientifically proven to aid in the therapeutic process. CBT is focused on the present, not the past.
Creative Arts Therapy
Psychodrama therapy is unique in that it encourages clients to achieve the rare perspective of viewing their lives and addictions as an outsider would. Techniques, such as role reversal, has clients assume the identities of friends, loved ones or themselves from a past experience. Much deeper than simple skits acted out for fun, psychodrama instills confidence and insight into patterns of substance abuse, and ultimately increases the chances for long-lasting recovery.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) works to help clients identify areas of inaccurate or irrational thinking while also teaching them to accept their thoughts and emotions. DBT gets to the heart of why individuals think the way they think and act the way they act in response to stress and conflict. Then, through group and individual therapy sessions, clients learn how to adjust their emotions and reactions to stress and conflict, and the challenges that have led them to using substances.
Experiential Therapy
Process group therapy sessions give clients the opportunity to create healthy bonds with their peers in a safe, structured setting. The relationships formed during group therapy at ATSI also provide valuable relapse prevention support after the treatment is complete. There are many different types of process group therapies, each one designed to hone in on different aspects of addiction, interpersonal relationships, social skills, anger issues and more. During process group sessions, members keep mental track of their emotions in real-time.
Family Therapy
At ATSI, families are strongly encouraged to play a large role in the recovery process. Their therapists keep families informed and involved in the planning process, and also in the progress being made during treatment. Family therapy allows both the client and his or her loved ones to work through any and all underlying issues in order to heal the dysfunction that has taken over their relationships.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.
Nutrition Therapy
Oftentimes, clients come to them malnourished and/or with poor diets. They provide nutritional counseling so that individuals come to understand the importance of eating well and fueling their bodies with the essential nutrients their bodies need. Eating right becomes a positive experience as clients are provided with flavorful, nutritious meals. They also encourage clients to participate in physical fitness activities whenever possible.
Trauma Therapy
Traumatic experiences can lead to substance abuse and behavioral health issues. Those who have experienced tragedy, conflict or any other traumatic event often develop post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression or chronic anxiety. Their Trauma and PTSD Program helps these clients address and heal their past experiences, process the traumas and develop healthy ways to manage stress.
