About Stockbridge VA Clinic

The Stockbridge VA Clinic is located in Stockbridge, Georgia. They offer help for veterans and their families with addiction and or a variety of mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

They also help with bipolar disorder, anger issues, trauma, PTSD and or OCD. You can get counseling and other support as needed and they offer same day service too. You might be able to get help here without enrolling in VA health care. A referral may be required for admission.

At this facility you’ll have a consultation and evaluation, then you’ll be referred to some treatment options for help with your mental health or emotional state. They have a confidential outpatient program centered around psychiatry and medication management and you can get individual or group therapy here.

They look to provide support to fit the needs of each separate patient, and if you can’t get there in person, they have virtual services. Their online mental health services include help with anger management, problem solving, parenting skills and more.

They also have a BeThere peer assistance program that allows you to talk with veterans, service members, or military spouses as needed to help cope with mental health issues.

While same-day appointments may be available, these are generally held for emergencies. Otherwise, you may have to wait several days before you can see a provider for the first time.

I came in with legitimate concerns and was turned away because my job required frequent travel. The staff mentioned that I wasn t 'established,' and I m extremely disappointed with the lack of concern and support for veterans. This experience has left me frustrated and disheartened by the system that should be there to help us but was sent to an urgent care instead.

I went there to get my blood work done and everything was great until the end when asked to set an appointment at this same facility. The person I talked to was very discouraging and negative. She was no help at all.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in Georgia offers an alternative to the abrupt change of moving from intensive treatment to an unstructured home environment. Men's and women's sober living homes replicate everyday life situations, but they do so in a sober environment while also reinforcing healthy habits. This reduces the chance of relapse. Individuals who could use extra support after rehab or don't have a stable home environment can benefit from this transitional option.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Staff sure loves to talk instead of work. There is no organization or friendliness whenever they attend a request. Some nurse thinks she is cute making comments that are sarcastic towards us patients.

My husband is patient, we were told to take him to ER last week sat there or 8hrs all they did was give him something like Tylenol extra strength and some patches to use for muscle spamming. They took xrays and CT scan said they didn't see any blood clots. Drew blood and sent him home. They also told us to make followup appt with primary care Dr at clinic. Took him to see Dr appt today and we have to go back tomorrow to get more blood work. My husband is a very active person and for the last month he can't sleep and ever joint and muscle in his body is putting him in so much pain. Just trying to get up and down or ride in truck is making it worse. Just want to see him get back to normal. Hopefully they will be able to help him. Other wise I will try and get appt with different Drs.

Awesome! I got checked-in today at about 10:12am for xrays and was done by 10:35am. The xray tech was kind and professional. Thank you.

This was my first visit here. I had some issues with referrals (my fault) but the front desk helped me get squared away. The young lady with the blond locks was very helpful so I could get everything done since I was already there.

As a contracted VA employee, the operators at this location are very rude for no reason. I had an operator transfer me mid-sentence and did not bother to let me know I was being transferred nor did she bother to let me know where I was being transferred to. THEN I had to call back a second time because I was on hold for so long, I checked in with my Veteran to let her know I was on hold, and then the call was disconnected when I clicked over. So my second time calling I was transferred to a nurse, who was kind of nice nasty for no reason, but made it seem like to the Veteran I had no clue what I was talking about and did not want to help me guide the Veteran, but just to get the same information from the Veteran to only transfer the Veteran.HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I made an appointement to be seen. I called a couple of days before the appointment to verify it. The front desk said that I was good to go.Showed up on appointment day only to be told that I am not scheduled for an appointment.I showed the staff member my appointment on my phone (my healthy vet) and she she says "Just go to Clairmont".She doesnt say where in Clairmont or even what time to be there. Just go to Clairmont.I also made another appointment for mental health. I was informed that I was going to be seen in 4 weeks. That time period passed. After asking the front desk on the status. They told me that they could not find anything in reference to that appointment. I was told that I would recieved a call to fix the issue. It's going on 4 weeks and no phone call yet. This issue goes way above the leadership at the stockbridge VA.I hope that someone outside can take a closer look at this location.I will say that their are good people that work there, but this location truly has some issues that require major attention.
