About Aspire Indiana Health – Indianapolis

Aspire Indiana Health - Indianapolis is a healthcare facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, that offers inpatient substance abuse treatment. They work with clients at all stages of their recovery journey and work to address each client’s specific recovery needs. The clinic also provides treatment for clients dealing with mental illnesses using evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). They accept a variety of insurance options including Medicare, Medicaid, and several private insurance providers such as CIGNA, United Healthcare, Aetna and Anthem. Aspire Indiana Health also offers a sliding scale payment model that is based on client income.

As part of their inpatient recovery program, the clinic uses the Whole Health Recovery Continuum (WHRC) model. This is a comprehensive treatment approach that combines all the necessary components to help clients through the recovery process. Some of the elements of the WHRC include peer support, 12 Step programs, primary medical care, job training, educational resources and case management.

One of the things that sets Aspire Indiana Health apart is that they accept walk-ins and same-day appointments for behavioral health services. They also offer flexibility by providing in-person and virtual appointments.

Previous clients report that Aspire staff members are very helpful. While some felt communication could be better, others have said that staff went above and beyond to help them.

I was a patient with Aspire Health Indiana Carmel with Nurse Practitioner M/S Cynthia Wilson. M/S Wilson was treating me for depression/anxiety.MS. Wilson with the help of her physician Dr. Jerry Sheward MD. got a court order against me for emergency detention. The complaint was worsening dementia and secondary paranoia also aggression towards my wife.NONE OF IT IS TRUE.I am not M/S Wilson s patient for dementia and never has been.Neither M/S Wilson nor Dr. Sheward contacted me for any issues with my behavior before filing the case.I have multiple strokes and am disabled, there is no way I can be aggressive towards anyone.People like M/S Wilson or Dr Sheward filed a case without contacting me. Which is surprising. My last appointment with M/S Wilson was on September 6,2024 and no further appointments were scheduled.I was cleared by the board of Community Behavioral Health North Hospital from all allegations and was discharged from all behavioral issues yesterday.I request this incidence be throughly investigated so that such behavior should not be repeated.

The only psyc doctor they have is Grovenberry, and she is terrible! Ive been on xanax most of my adult life for severe anxiety. She abruptly ended our first meeting because she just simply refused to prescribe that. I reached out to her, pleading to be seen again because my anxiety was so bad. We rescheduled and during the wait time, I had called teladoc because I was having such a bad panic attack and they prescribed hydroxozine. It wasnt ideal, but it helped. In our redo appointment, I told her the hydroxine kind of helps...what does she do, takes me off of them. She ended up prescribing me something that didnt help at all, and had very negative side effects. Huge waste of time. Took off work 4 times for appointments before dropping the network altogether.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I have to say the staff at the desk are great. Adam NP is amazing!! Herbert NP is one of the worst behavioral health person I ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. When one meet with a behavioral health professional they should not leave the appointment wanting to harm themselves. If he doesn t know why someone is there to see him then maybe he shouldn t be seeing patients in the first place. This is the worst NP out there and needs to be educated on how to treat people. I will be praying for anyone who has to deal with this man. If you are told you have an appointment with him as for someone else. He is not worth your time or mental health.

I wish I could choose zero stars! I was late because my Uber driver got lost (SOMETHING THAT NEVER HAPPENED IN MY LIFE! How do you drive for a living and get LOST?!) anyhow. I called to inform them of this and was told to still come in. I get there ands was told I would have to RESCHEDULE! WHY! I m already traumatized by trying to help a hapless driver navigate even though I have never driven in my life and I am ALREADY THERE! No ma am. Declined rescheduling and I canceled a future appointment for my daughter. No compassion! NO EMPATHY.

This company is a disgrace. The intake interview provider was rude and inconsiderate.Tricare referred us to you for therapy. We cancelled the next appointment and we're billed $275 for not having insurance when we do!!!. Given Tricare referred us, how do you figure we don't have insurance? We called two weeks ago to get this taken care of and were told it was, checked today and the account still does not have our insurance added, still is pending payment. Get it together!!!! I will be reporting the therapist to the Indiana PLA if this is not resolved. You don't get to provide awful service and then bill erroneouslyfor it.We provided every detail you needed, fix it now!
