Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab is designed to stabilize clients who are exiting detox or those who are in some form of crisis. They are an important preliminary step designed to prepare clients for outpatient, sober living, or community-based care. Clients live at the treatment center and engage in intensive addiction counseling. Group and family therapy is common. Many programs also emphasize recovery-focused life skills training to support clients' sustained sobriety. Some programs offer evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs support clients' long-term recovery through highly customized wraparound care aligned with clients' evolving needs. Most have been sober for a period of weeks or longer and have completed intensive inpatient rehab but may be receiving outpatient care. Many clients also receive services after being discharged from formal treatment. Long-term care plans are typically developed in collaboration with the client's case manager and care team and may include peer coaching, relapse prevention, and related services.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs take a holistic approach to addiction recovery, combining peer support with personal spiritual growth. These programs prioritize regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and available day and night in most communities. Spiritual principles are invoked to help participants address the root causes of addiction, accept responsibility, and relinquish control over that which cannot be changed. Dedicated programs for specialized groups, such as youth and seniors, are common.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

The goal of drug rehab in Wisconsin is to address drug addiction as a complex issue that involves physical, mental, and relational aspects. During rehab, treatment focuses on each of these areas and gives you the tools you need to achieve and maintain sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

As a form of substance use treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy in Wisconsin offers several advantages. The duration of this talk therapy is typically 20 sessions or less, so it can be more affordable, with quicker results. It's also offered in multiple formats, so it can be tailored to meet individual needs.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

It's really annoying that they are always running behind the appointment time. Quality of care is deficient as providers are always rushed and can’t diagnose accurately. Go someplace else for better quality care.

I recently attended an appointment for my grandmother to see Dr. Hahn. (Backstory: I personally assisted my Gram in getting ready for her appointment that morning. She put on her jewelry, nice clothes, blush and lipstick, perfume, brushed her hair, she told me she felt beautiful.)When Dr. Terri Hahn sat down in front of my 90 y.o. Gram, the first words to her were; What s going on (name)? You look disheveled. Your hair looks a mess. I was completely appalled! A physician should not be speaking to a patient this callously. How rude and unprofessional; what poor clinical acumen! To verbally put down an elderly patient, I was disgusted! Not to mention how my grandma must have felt hearing that. How awful! In addition to this, my takeaway is that she is a pill pushing MD with little regard for what s in the patients best interest. 10/10 would NOT recommended.

Their 4th floor has the greatest medical treatment I ever received in a psychiatric ward. "No dopey medications, no choice due to medical concerns." A doctor that is actually is a doctor and doesn't act like we're in a Gestapo death camp.

I get a procedure done every 6 weeks in the Heart and Vascular dept under general anesthesia. After a year of not being very happy with any of the radiologists, especially when it came to Dr. Stein. A couple of weeks ago, I was taken in via ambulance and spent 2 days in before they decided to do the procedure. It should've been done the 1st morning I was there as the longer I wait the difficult and lengthy this takes. Dr Stein came in and and ripped me apart for at least 20 minutes. Among other things, he told me he's been doing this for 25 years and was an expert. I said, I've been having this done for at least 5 years. He told me I didn't know what I was talking about, I was liar and should be happy he was the one taking care of me.He's an absolute idiot and jerk. At the end of the conversation he started to tell me it probably was best if I start going elsewhere. I agreed as I had already made that decision and had absolutely no use for him, or the hospital. In my years of having this done, I said that this was the 4th hospital that I've this done at long term. Never before have I ever had a problem or been treated so badly until I ended up at Apirus. Hospital. I'm 60 yrs old and I've have times that I've went to the hospital, in patient or out and I've never experienced anything like that. I wouldn't go there I wouldn't go again if I was on my deathbed.

The central scheduling phone system is the worst. When you get to talk the switch board they transfer you then you wait 20 minutes for an available representative...then get disconnected and have to start the process all over again very frustrating and then when you get through you are upset and the poor representative hears your frustrations and it isn't there fault as they are understaffed.....upper management needs to open there eyes and get help for these people....maybe management could start answering the phones and do some of the work.

The automated service did not work no matter which button I pressed. But i needed my prescription filled. I called the local point office which sent me to a third-party party person. She was not helpful. I was frustrated and explained my dilemma in detail so she would not send me back to automated service. Because I didn't want to go through the same runaround. I did not say runaround in my call and she hung up.People will be frustrated when they get screwed around over medical issues. I think more training is needed for the "stay at home" workers.. They clearly need oversight! Get back to in house employees and get rid of automatic services that don't work!

Great people, great facility, corporate policy/greed is the problem. Before Aspirus bought them or the other local hospital, we loved going there. Now we have to drive an hour and half away for care. We were told by multiple people Aspirus is known in the industry for buying facilities in markets where there is no other competition so they can literally double the prices. (We were shown the results for things we had done based on the software that tracks national average costs and it was true.) Health care monopoly under the guise of a non-profit! They have had legal action against them for this type of thing already. We moved care to another Ascension hospital in a different area that Aspirus had not bought and when we asked if that one was going to end up getting bought by them too, the person who worked there literally laughed and said "That will never happen as there are other hospitals in this town and everyone knows Aspirus only buys into markets with no competition so they can jack up the prices". Another great example of how greed literally affects people's health care. Give upper management another raise and bonus for their great work at monopolizing health care in rural areas!
