Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients who are leaving detox or intensive inpatient care often transition into a rehab aftercare program. Outpatient treatment is among the most common rehab aftercare services, but clients often continue to receive support long after being discharged from formal treatment. Clients' long-term care plans are highly individualized and designed to evolve with the clients' changing needs. Case managers and care teams typically work with the client to design their unique care strategy.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed as an intensive form of outpatient, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) allows clients to receive treatment at a rehab facility while continuing to live at home. PHP treatment typically offers daily 6-8 hour meetings, 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. Commuting is typically required, however, some PHP treatments can take place via telehealth. PHP treatment may be fully or partially covered by providers. Depending on your needs, typical PHP treatment can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
If you have become physically dependent on drugs or alcohol, quitting abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, headaches, flu-like symptoms, and more. In severe cases, these withdrawal symptoms can even be dangerous. In medically assisted detox, a team of licensed professionals will monitor your vitals, provide medication if needed, and help keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction causes psychological and physical damage through repeated and uncontrollable use of substances. Drug rehab in West Virginia focuses on providing a full continuum of care, from detox to aftercare, and treatment can take place in outpatient or inpatient settings, based on your needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Within a group therapy session, men and women in West Virginia can see successful recovery behaviors modeled by their peers. This provides inspiration and practical examples of coping skills that manage addiction in the community. Ultimately, this promotes sobriety and helps you attain sustainable recovery.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

A counselor can apply couples therapy techniques to guide partners through a variety of relationship challenges. Couples therapy in West Virginia can address infidelity, substance use, disconnect, and family issues. It is appropriate for intervention in both new and seasoned relationships.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

They are quick to scold you in front of other patients but not quick enough to give you back your money when they charge some services wrong. Phones are never working, each minor issue has to be discussed on the front desk with all these lazy people

Lauren DeWitt and her teammates at Ascension Recovery Services have gone above and beyond to now help two of my friends. The first for loss of spouse and the other for alcoholism. They take it very personally as if they were finding treatment for their own family member. Lauren set up a family intervention and even personally flew with my friend to the treatment center. This world is a better place because Ascension Recovery Services and I hold them to the highest regard.God bless you Lauren and your team!- Jon Peavey

Ascension was the exact service my family needed and within 4-days that included a weekend, my nephew was on his way to the 90-day rehab that may turn his life around, but at the minimum saved his life for now and the outcome is now up to his Higher Power and his continued Willingness to do the work in a spiritual program that works 100% of the time, as long as he puts in the work and continues to follow suggestions.A wonderful woman from Ascension did respond almost immediately to my voice mail (on a Saturday no less), otherwise it would have been 2 more days before any conversations as all the rehabs didn't open until Monday and he would have used by then for sure. After the showing of the Netflix movie Recovery Boys at the theater in Morgantown that fateful Friday night, the struggles and hope depicted opened up my nephew to share what was really going on in his drug-fueled life. She ended up being a kind our family's cheerleader, standby resource the remainder of the weekend and was by our side right up until he made it in the door of the rehab. I kept her appraised of his progress via text and she stood by, ready to assist further even though it was the affiliated WV Peers that provided the Recovery Coach that walked the path with him to "Yes, I will go to rehab".I was from Virginia and my Higher Power lead me to ask a friend who had randomly text me that night if she knew any recovery services in Morgantown and she sent me the link to Ascension! Ascension referred me to WV Peers that had not come up in my Google search, so I never would have found the key resource if not for Ascension.WV Peers provides ex-addicts (Recovery Coaches, as they call them) to come out and talk to users about options/coming in from the cold and that could not have worked better. He met us on a Sunday even though it was not his workday. This Recovery Coach was the perfect person to talk to my nephew with some real talk in the language he understood. He could talk-the-talk on hard drugs that I could not, gave him some tough love, but gently put him to the decision to go into rehab, which he was not buying into when I asked him the day before. He even laid out a landing path for his immediate future; that he could come back to Morgantown after the rehab to live in the WV Sober Living House that he also runs, IF he would just do the work in rehab. He didn t force the decision right then, but asked him to go to another NA meeting that night to demonstrate his willingness. By that evening less than 2-days into the "we" program that family, Ascension, WV Peers and NA had going for him, the miracle happened and he did say yes when I asked. The Recovery Coach walked him through the process, made the phone calls we would have had no clue how to and by Wednesday morning he was walking into the door of the rest of his new life. I am so happy to report that Hope is alive in Morgantown, thanks to Ascension!

We're so grateful to Ascension Recovery Services and their amazing staff with regards to the help we received for our son, Chris. Just a little over a year ago, we were quite worried about Chris' health, but within an hour of reaching out to Ascension, Chris was on his way to a treatment facility and Ascension has been by his side every step of the way. Not only were they there for Chris, but they were also instrumental in reaching out to our family for the much needed emotional support during this time of great distress and confusion. It has been 16 months and Ascension has continued to meet Chris', and our, every need since that initial call. We are so thankful that Chris is well and continuing on this positive path of recovery thanks to Doug, Jon, Joe, Dustin and the other members of the Ascension family. If you ever feel that a loved one is struggling with addiction, do not hesitate to contact Ascension Recovery Services.

My experience with Ascension was absolutely stellar. They helped me every step of the way from finding a treatment center, providing aftercare, and were able to help with the legal side of my situation as well. I am grateful for all of their help. I highly recommend them to anyone in a difficult place in their lives looking to make a change. Whatever your situation, Ascension can provide a tailored plan to accommodate your needs.

It's safe to say that Ascension Recovery Services saved my life. They helped get me into treatment, facilitated my aftercare plan, and properly bolstered my early recovery with IOP and individual therapy. They effectively gave me my life back. I truly believe that if I hadn't surrendered, my parents hadn't reached out for help, and Ascension did not take me on as a client, I would be dead or in jail. My disease of addiction had me beat down; and it's only because of Ascension and my willingness that I have another chance today to live a better life. I'm so grateful for everything they do in this community. Great people, great service. If you know someone struggling with addiction, get in contact with Ascension -- they will give your loved one an opportunity to turn their life around.

They are quick to take your money and if you have a change of heart they are quick to keep your money and and send you a nasty email.

Response from the owner6 years ago
Stacy has received a refund on her payment. This is a fictitious review. Our clinicians spent more time on this case than we were paid to perform and did so at a reduced rate. After we spent the time, Stacy reversed the PayPal payment and said she was willing to pay but not the amount she agreed to pay.
