i went here in February, there was so many fights and there was ALOT of drama between clients and the staff didn t really do anything about it. my counselor was Erica, definitely recommend her she is absolutely amazing. being able to go on outings like to the horse ranch or to the movies was really nice and being able to visit home for a few hours was great! phone call times were pretty fair, 10 minutes everyday, on weekends you get 30 if i remember correctly. i went there on my 13th birthday and they let me pick if i wanted cake or brownies and everyone sang happy birthday to me, ive definitely had great memories at daybreak

I would highly recommend looking into your options with ANY other clinic. If you absolutely must choose New Horizons because of being on state health care, just prepare to be extremely organized with all documents, tracking important dates, keeping record of all attendances, etc. Front desk on multiple occasions will mix up times of appointments or just dont even put them in their calendar. If you get assigned Marla Tofsrud as your counselor, request a different one immediately! She is painfully slow and doesn't know how to do simple tasks such as printing off a piece of paper in her office so your appointments will take twice as long as needed as you sit and watch her struggle to input information on her computer. She will tell you she will email you a document and then forget (pretty sure she just doesn't know how to attach docs,) and worst of all write up extremely vague reports to your probation officer, often times with incorrect or incomplete information making you look bad. If she doesn't have the information to complete a fully accurate report she will just put down the minimum without calling and asking if you can provide her with the info. The one positive from New Horizons was the counselor who ran groups Riley Leno. I would request Riley as your counselor. I also heard Dustin is great too. Otherwise, good luck to you and keep track of EVERYTHING. I have been with Gateway 2 weeks and they are fantastic all around. Really wish id have started my IOP with them, id be done by now.

My spouse was sent here after Sacred Heart. They were held for 9 days. No one called me to give me information. I was left running around to my spouses doctors trying to get help. It wasn t until I got verbally upset at the nurses and doctors that they were finally let go. They weren t given ANY help here. Group therapy was coloring time. They saw a doctor 3 times in 9 days. The saddest part of this is the facility is the city/county holding facility for mentally ill adults. If you don t have an advocate you aren t getting out. They will hold you indefinitely and charge the city/county/state for it. And not a lick of help is given .horrible, atrocious, deplorable. Just makes me sick. What they put my family through was hell.

As a neighbor of this facility( I live in the large apartment complex behind the facility I am awakened at 6:00AM every morning by loud patients who are outside for what I presume is the first cigarette of the day. This morning a woman was screaming at the top of her lungs for more than 5 minutes and could be heard a block away. This was allowed to go on for long enough that it was obvious that these patients are not accompanied by a staff member. We also notice people walking through our parking lot and carports slipping bags of what I presume are drugs through the fence dividing our property. I would suggest a thick hedge to prevent this and a staff member present during early morning smoke breaks in consideration of the seniors living in the other side of the fence!, Be good neighbors!

This has been the worst and most stressful healthcare experience that I have had. As of writing this, it s been 8 weeks since I moved. My appointment with my new primary care provider isn t for another 7 weeks. The VA won t get me approved for the treatments that I already approved at my last VA center because I haven t seen a new primary care provider. Now to explain what makes that situation even more frustrating: before moving states I told the VA months in advance and asked to transfer my care and wasn t allowed. I was told I needed physically move before I could establish care. Once I got here and tried, it took me a month and a half to finally even get an appointment set. I would call and get no answer. I called on 3 separate occasions and got told I needed to be pulled over to the Spokane system from my previous location . After getting assured 3 times it had been done and not getting any headway because I was told to call back the next day after the system reset I contacted patient advocacy. Finally someone was competent enough to get me an appointment with primary care out of the Coeur d Alene VA clinic but it wasn t for another 9 weeks from the time of the appointment finally being set.I brought up that I d already been without my healthcare for a month and a half and was told I would be called by the end of the day for a referral. I didn t receive a call and when I called back well past 72 business hours later, I was told that I should have been contacted by September 4th and that was the only information I got before being told that they d send yet another email. After finally going into the clinic in person during a work day that I had to take time off to do, the Coeur d Alene clinic had not even seen a request from me to get seen. Each new person that I talk to gives me the sure tired line about sorry sir I ll try to get this taken care of but it s up to____ and there s always a new reason that it s not their fault. This is the reason VA healthcare has a bad name. You are everything that s wrong with our healthcare system and every single employee that I ve had the displeasure of speaking to has acted like an hourly phone center worker who s 5 minutes from clocking out and doesn t care.

After a few years with frontier, I have a motto: low-quality service for low-income patients. Some practitioners here are kind and empathetic, and others are abrasive and disrespectful. There is no real standard for what experience or qualifications one needs to hold a position, which results in a dice-roll for what kind of service your going to get.As for the actual treatment, its pretty bare bones. If you can google Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and meditation you ll know just about as much as anyone there. To give an idea of the varieties of service, I had one practitioner who didn t understand the LGBT thing , one who said they didn't have talk therapy , one who broke HIPPA and then disappeared, one who would rant about their family life to me, and several who would operate under the assumption their patients can t make decisions themselves and assumed everyone who walked through their doors was having a psychotic episode.Of course there were many sweet people here who genuinely want to help you despite their painful lack of resources. But it seems most people who work there have grown distrusting through poor experiences with unstable clients. In summary, disadvantaged individuals, seniors, those on disability, on government insurance; they deserve quality health care to.
