They publicly share information about you to family etc. No regard for HIPA. No regard for privacy etc. I had a councilor named Glenn who literally lied to my mom saying I was using without my permission. My family then tested me and found he was lying but still not just unprofessional but illegal. They try to just hustle money out of you and then try to make your situation worse than it is. Only went here because of insurance but I promise you, you will get no help here. Just dirty business

Positive recovery has played a pivotal role in 3 of my closest friends and family s lives. We are so grateful for their continued support. Their comprehensive care and treatment plans make the path forward feel manageable. We highly recommend PRC to anyone looking for a safe place to land and get the help they deserve.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Where to begin in thanking PRC for giving me the tools to save myself. Super friendly right from the beginning. Admissions had me scheduled for check in before I got there. Linda was compassionate and kind as she was doing my intake assessment. When I was taken to the men's dorm, Ron, gave me the lay of the land and made sure to remind me I chose to come here because I wanted to live differently. Colleen, Reanna, Jaime and Kevin provided insightful exercises that not only challenged my understanding of my disease they also allowed me to understand myself in a new way. Dr Powers' Positive Psychology is amazing and I can't thank him and the staff enough for my recovery.

Medical Detox was done so professionally. In a country setting, nice calm rooms with comfortable beds and plenty of cold air! Wonderful staff, Counselor, and Medical Director. The kitchen made the best spaghetti and meatballs Ive had in years. This was my first detox and hopefully my last. Thank Ya'll Positive Recovery!

Steer clear of this facility. I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. The facade they put on during the tour is like nothing I've ever seen. You soon realize how awful this place is once you've fully checked in. The physical aspect alone is enough to turn any individual away. The entire building could use a makeover. The lawn lacked maintenance. Some of the rooms are without storage for the residents' belongings. The cafeteria is unsanitary. The food is poor. You would think they would provide a balanced nutritious diet for the residents during recovery, unfortunately it's quite the opposite. The only other option for food is a couple of vending machines stocked with more unhealthy choices. Several of the staff members lack compassion and empathy and tend to speak to the residents in a disrespectful manner. Almost as if they're beneath them. Michelle, Hailey, Crystal, Rebecca, Tracy and Ron could all stand to have more training on the proper way to treat people. Filing grievances is almost pointless. It takes several days before they're even addressed. Completely Unacceptable! As a family member, getting in contact with management, specifically the executive director Rebecca is as hard as pulling teeth. Although They somehow manage to contact you frequently when they're inquiring about potential admissions. As far as the medical aspect goes. The nurses on staff are decent. You get telehealth visits from the doctor who may drop in once in a two-week span. How much time can one doctor actually spend with each patient when the facility is at maximum capacity?Be prepared to be reprimanded for exercising your first amendment right to speak freely. Overall, the place lack's structure. I've seen animals treated better. Can't help but wonder how often this place undergoes state inspections. They should definitely take the P out of PRC because there's nothing positive about the "positive recovery center".Do better. The residents deserve it!

Place is a complete dump! 5 people to a "room" should tell you enough (prison is better!!!). Dr Powers has Napoleon God complex. When I came into Houston Garden Oaks, I was in a very severe bipolar depressive episode where I could barely form a sentence without Herculean effort. Dr Powers is not a psychiatrist but thinks that he is one and decided to put me on 5 different medications when I was taking NO medication before. He put me on this cocktail of prescription drugs designed to zombify you including; Duloxetine 1x day, Buspirone 4x a day Zyprexa 1x a day, Hydroxezine, Trazodone. I quickly became a submissive zombie which I guess is the point to make the 30 days in this facility which is a half step above Jail.I give it 1 star for the many homeless and career ex Cons I met that actually turned out to be Good people!!!

The Garden Oaks Positive Recovery Center recently provided services to a family member. The facility was good and felt very safe. The staff were very professional and provided great care. Tom Dodson was my family member's counselor. He was extremely instrumental in my family member's recovery. He is an experienced, kind, and genuine person. He knows his stuff and has continued to follow up on my family member after they were discharged. He encouraged us to contact him any time we need additional support or information. He's the best!

It was an honor to support you and your family, Kip. Like Tom mentioned, we are here for you and your family if you ever need anything!

This review is for the Intensive Outpatient Program. If you are looking to benefit your recovery and grow this is not the place to do it. The facilitator is a nice guy but that is all. He is boring, dull, non reactive, no control over the group, and uninterested. He allows the group to run free as he doesn t have the maturity or knowledge to facilitate a group. Very inexperienced for his position. I went for 5 weeks voluntarily and paid out of pocket. Simply put, I was robbed. 5200 and there is no refunds. I expressed my concerns to the owner of the overall disappointment in the group at week 2. Nothing changed. I continued to go in hopes of a turning for the better but it just got worse. This is the first review I have ever written in my life but I feel obligated to share my experience so others will not have to go through what I did. This place will not help your recovery as they just aren t equipped like other programs. No therapists or any individual work either. You sit in a small room with up to 12 people. It s similar to a holding cell. Just not good at all. And it disappoints me that I am writing such a poor review. The owner and facilitator are nice guys. Hopefully this review will motivate the company to do things differently. I have been to outpatient programs and they are beneficial. Positive Recovery is not even in the same conversation as the ones I m referring to.

I went in for detox and then the 30 day program and I was treated so well for the intake. The doctor noticed my pulse was very low and sent me to River Oaks Hospital (ALSO TOP NOTCH) I m getting discharged tomorrow from the hospital and then going straight to the program. I m really excited to see what s in store for my recovery and I will encourage ANYONE that has Medicaid to call and get in. I have United Healthcare Medicaid and they accept it. If you have a different Medicaid insurance, change it to United Healthcare beforehand that way you ll get in. They also offer suboxone for opiate addiction and that really helps. Good luck to whoever sees this!

I genuinely enjoyed my time at Prc. My most favorite part of my recovery was Tom. He was an amazing counselor and he wasn t even my counselor, but he spent time helping me which was the biggest part of my recovery. He genuinely cared and took the time to just help in a time where I was not OK.
