About Andrews Center

Globally recognized for First Monday Trade Days, Canton, Texas is also home to Andrews Center. Established in 1968, this community behavioral health center welcomes youth and adults with mental health conditions and intellectual disabilities as well as co-occurring substance use disorders.

One incredible feature I noticed is they’ll never turn you away from services if you’re battling a mental health or intellectual disorder. Along with accepting private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare you may be eligible for financial assistance through local, state, or federal funding.

They offer intensive and supportive outpatient programs for adults as well as intensive tracks for adolescents ages 13 to 17 in the Region 4 area. You’ll benefit from proven therapeutic interventions including individual, group and family counseling, drug screenings, group and family education, relapse prevention planning, aftercare and more. They provide the tools to recognize and address the behaviors contributing to addiction while developing healthy coping skills.

What stands out most to me is their treatment flexibility. With outpatient care you can live at home and fit rehab into your daily schedule. They also offer in-person and virtual services to provide a treatment plan that works for you. You’ll benefit from personalized care that puts your needs and goals at the forefront to reach sustained recovery.

Another wonderful element that caught my eye was their family therapy and education groups. They understand that addiction affects not only you but also your loved ones. Your family can benefit from learning more about addiction and recovery. Additionally, they’ll understand how to support you and themselves throughout this journey.

The previous reviews are very accurate. Additionally I was informed by the representatives that it s doesn t matter if you are a vanzandt county resident they will not help you unless you are a family member or have been recommended to them by a family member. I genuinely feel the organization should be audited if it receives any type of funding form the state and local government because they are not serving the community . Nepotism should be outlawed.

If you have children DO NOT come here asking for help unless you want CPS in your life. The first time I made the mistake of coming here was for my child. They wanted to put her on medicine and I asked if we could wait until we got the results back from her bloodwork they just did, the therapist said yes. A week later the nurse calls me wanting o know if my daughter is handling the meds ok, I told her what the therapist said about waiting she informed me they got the results back days ago and she should have been on that medicine already so I went and picked it up that very day about 3 days later CPS shows up at my house investigating me for medical neglect. The second time I made the mistake of going to this place was when I myself made a cry for help which once again I was met with CPS into my life in my home and my child ultimately being taken away. Thank God I got my child back but only after jumping through many many hoops and my child being traumatized.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs promote participants' sustained sobriety through rigorous and ongoing peer coaching and personal spiritual growth. Participants routinely attend 12 step meetings, which are available multiple times per day, 365 days per year in most communities. This ensures that those in recovery have prompt access to the structure and support they need when they need it. These programs use spiritual precepts to address the root causes of addiction and encourage compassion, self-awareness, forgiveness, accountability, and acceptance.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Texas may be necessary if your loved one is in denial about a substance use disorder. You can partner with intervention services to plan and execute an effective intervention that educates your loved one about addiction and encourages them to get the treatment they need. Many rehab centers offer intervention specialists who can facilitate the intervention and help with a seamless transition to inpatient rehab for treatment.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Ridding the body of harmful, addictive substances, also known as detoxification, is usually the first phase of recovery. Those going through medically assisted detox can be administered medications by a team of medical professionals who are on-site 24/7 to provide different types of therapies that help mitigate withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy helps couples learn to control emotions, trust each other, and communicate more effectively. It can be useful for short term intervention for a specific issue or for working on the relationship long term.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

When used as recommended, nicotine replacement therapy in Texas provides enough nicotine to help you avoid severe cravings and withdrawal symptoms after quitting smoking. This increases comfort so you're less likely to relapse into your smoking habit.

My 12 old son just came to live with me full time from his dad's. Dr danley was treating my child who has ADHD Atomoxetine. What in the actual hell....??? Very first warning when googling suggests this is a very bad drug to proscribe to a child with this diagnosis. 1 star so I can actually comment.Update: I've since moved to the area and to get a jump on treatment, knowing I'm the best advocate for my children decided to give this place a real chance. Strike 1 :being told we were meeting with a case manager at an appointment only to get to said appointment and it be yet another part of a 3 part intake appointment. Strike 2 leaving me in a room till I have an anxiety attack and decide to take the long route to getting help for my children. Only for the case manager come out in time to see me leaving get me to come back calm me down like they actually care. Strike 3 I get home and begin reviewing what was entered into your system and see that not 1 but both my children were given a brand new diagnosis by the CASE MANAGER. Thanks for wasting everyone's time.

I took one daughter there a few years ago, and while it was a process getting registered, went well. Tried to get another daughter in, was told someone would call in 24-48 hrs to set up appt. I have called and left 2 msgs. No response. Been 2 weeks, no call. They've lost my respect. I won't call again.

The therapist I was assigned canceled multiple appts within 20-30 minutes of the appt time and would reschedule with two weeks or longer gaps in counseling sessions.(Consistency is considered vital in trauma recovery)Way too much of our session time was spent with her telling me private things about her life completely unnecessary for my treatment. She never got around to actually using any of the therapy modalities that she spoke about being qualified to practice. I can't comment on the entire staff but Bonnie-Rose is utterly inconsistent, lacks discernment & tact in what & how she communicates with her clients. I would be concerned about a risk of counter-transference. She often seemed to take the mood swings & emotional dysregulation that I was seeking help to overcome as a personal offense.I called to speak to the director of the Andrews Center counseling staff multiple times but was always transferred to voicemail and my messages went without reply.

This place provides minimal services. I get to see my psychiatrist for 10 minutes 3X a year & my caseworker twice a month. There are no counselors or therapists. A.C. is way understaffed and underfunded. If you are having a mental health crisis, you *might* get more help.
