Keep in mind, to whomever reads these reviews, that there's a new sheriff in town at Alternatives. New location and new management but kept the business name for familiarity reasons. He actually listens to people and is willing to help anyone who commissions it. The first step to any kind of recovery in life is admitting you need help.

Did not quite understand over reviews before the fact. Now I completely understand and agree with all the reviews. A follow-up in regards to a concern of information processed and evaluated was quite a bit reaching and very much misleading.I was instructed by staff to contact the owner the following week. Though the receptionist was polite, the owner immediately took a defensive stance of unprofessionalism by trading arguments and not listening to the client/customer was very rude in nature and was not open-minded to the concerns that were being expressed. In mid-conversation over the phone, I was rudely hung upon. The owner unrealistically believes that her staff member is all correct and that it is impossible for them to make mistakes in their assessment. I would not put my life in their handsThere is a reason why this facility does not have raving reviews. The diagnosis though completed, was not successful. The Evaluation was reaching and stretching. For me to get into the particulars, will be time-consuming. I am only being most polite and yet truthful.For those who are trying to get a proper assessment for the court, I would not advise this place. I could tell by the generalized questions It could be easy to fool the court. Their general assessment can be very misleading. This facility definitely has poor judgment.I am victimized by my 5 year old who was murdered through gun violence and which prompted me to secure custody and visitation rights of my other daughter where it is a contested case and believed that there is parental alienation. The facility did not take this into consideration.I first asked the counselor if you had training in parental alienation and he said, No. So how could he possibly understand my concerns let alone give a proper diagnosis for my situation?

Counselor does not pay attention to details and misquoted statements given and gave a bizarre assessment in part not matching a true diagnosis. Same Info was given to another mental evaluation counselor not even close to a match. A misdiagnosis was given.

THIS PLACE IS DOWN GRADING THEY WORK AGAINST ANY PARENT TRYING TO GET THEIR KIDS BACK FROM SCDSSTHE SECRETARY IS VERY DIRESPECTFULWHEN PROMPTED TO SPEAK TO A DIRECTOR SHE HANGS UPSHE JUDGES EVERY CALLER VOICE AND IF SHE IS CORRECT WILL NOT CALL YOU BY YOUR CORRECT GENDERFIND ANOTHER PROGRAM SCDSS PROBATION NOBODY SHOULD GO HERE THIS PLACE IS FOR THE MONEY NOT FOR THE COMMUNITY

I would give them no stars if that was an option. They cater to individuals who are in desperate situations with children yet offer no flexibility in appointment times or child care. Do realize that they are more expensive 150$ on their assessments and you will be assessed by an inexperienced counselor . Also realize that no matter what the details are of your situation that of course they are going to recommend further classes. They have an office in a low rent district and charge a premium. If you are stuck in a situation requiring an assessment then it would be best to just wait and go to origins. They are most certainly only interested in getting money and not in actually helping someone who is in need. Low overhead -rent and cheaply paid staff+ overpriced services=someone profiting on others pain. Then they require drug tests for any and every situation. And they stand inside the bathroom and watch you while you pee. It s a very degrading process and they could care less.

If you come here, you will feel degraded. Embarrassed even.The assessment interviewer will treat you as if you re a junkie regardless of what your situation is and how you got there.She may also be racist and/or sexist.The staff will bring you in for the assessment after explaining over the phone that they do indeed have the program you re looking for, set you up for an appointment- just to tell you that they can t help you because they don t have that program.. and they just keep your money anyway.The assessment is 150$.Doctors are supposed to help people.Not make them feel like peasant ghetto trash.She s the old blonde with the pixie cut.

Poor staffing, undereducated, just wants to take your money only to inform you afterwards that their program is "unofficial ". Very rude and not accepting to anyone coming in for help. I STRONGLY suggest you stay FAR away from this place! It's true when they say "you get what you pay for" and this being the cheapest in Charleston, they RIP you off just to take your money!

This place was totally unprofessional and if you re working person trying to take classes to get out of PTI it s your worst nightmare they don t work with your schedule, they don t have a set schedule for closing and opening so trying to go in there to get paperwork filled out is a nightmare! the instructors are not capable and experienced is less than what you pay for each week you gain literally nothing!!!!!
