About Clinton Hospital – Geriatric Psychiatry

Clinton Hospital - Geriatric Psychiatry is based in Clinton, Massachusetts. It’s part of the UMass Memorial system. This hospital has behavioral health services that focus on emergency cases and evaluations. Primary care is also available as needed. Their main patients are 16 years old and older. Medicare is accepted, but not Medicare Advantage.

At Clinton, clients who are in crisis can be stabilized in an emergency care setting. Afterwards, a case management team sits down with them and discusses options on how to strengthen their recovery. This can include consultations, therapy, and referrals to an outside hospital, such as the Karen W. Green clinic for pregnant women who have addiction disorders.

The hospital offers limited prevention services. Occasional classes can offer tips on addiction control, like tips on detox and harm reduction methods. However, these classes are not part of the hospital’s regular services.

I have been to Clinton ER on a few occasions but this time I d like to recognize some of the employees that go above and beyond for patient care. Ashley and Claire nurses from the ED are phenomenal!!! They actually care about their patients and not just there for a paycheck. However my last visit I needed to be admitted and upstairs is very depressing. Very outdated and not the friendliest techs! I have no complaints about the nurses but Mike on the 2nd floor really should take a class on how to treat and speak to patients who clearly are here to rest and try and feel better. We shouldn t have to worry about a tech and how they speak to you or that they walk out of the room talking poorly about patients!!! The impatient rooms on the second floor need some serious facelifts!!!!! Makes Nashoba look like a palace

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Save your money and go to Rite Aid, speak to a pharmacist for free, and buy OTC meds. This place embodies everything wrong with the American Health"care" system. Wish I could give them negative stars.

They kicked me out twice for helping my mom eat, cut her food. And overstaying the 60 minutes by 11 min. Staff lied and didn't change her clothes for 3.5 days. No washup nor a shower. No snack time when certain ones gets shakey. Never offer water. She forgets to ask and she is dehydrated. No button for emergency. What if she needs help? Totally abuse to all the residents. I was there! All promises and no results. All humans with a dissibality are on that floor for a reason! If you don't like ur job..... f. Quit. Always do the right thing. Follow rules and care for those individuals that are Cleary mental issues. I see it in person. It's a fasaide. 4t

Worst hospital ever. Not seen for 5 hrs and we were initially told it would be a few minutes. Bleeding badly and no attention. No one even would give us gauze. We finally left because a Code Blue came in. This is the second time we were not seen.

I sliced my finger, and it was a pretty deep cut and tons of blood. It wouldn t stop bleeding so I went to the Clinton Hospital emergency room. There was no one else in the waiting room, but I waited for 5 hours, and during that time the custodian had to mop up blood that was dripping from my finger in the waiting area. Finally they called my name and I was put in a room, but then an overdose came in and everyone went into action so I realized there was no chance of being seen. I left without any treatment after midnight. Go somewhere else!!!

Clinton hospital isn't much more than an urgent care center. I was with a patient in the ER earlier today. Clinton has some of the faster waiting room times in the area, but the compliments stop there. The staff, from nurses to techs, are extremely immature and appear not to know how to be professional. You can often hear them gossiping about each other, how there is no management located at the Clinton location, or about the patients. We are not that far away and can hear. Today there was a tech, Amy I believe, that was arguing with a coworker on the floor in a hostile manner. She comes off as rude with an appalling attitude, and extremely lazy just slouching around the nurses station while everyone works. That type of person does not belong in healthcare. They lack equipment, specialists, staff, and seem to have to send everyone to another hospital if your condition is worse than a sprain or the flu. It's sad to see healthcare fall apart like this when medical care is a necessity. Step it up UMass. Your true colors are showing. Perhaps you should have some on-site staff to keep the crew in check and remind everyone that patient care is first. Its not about how your techs feel about each other. I should not know about your lack of present leadership but it does show.

Of course there s a few good people at Clinton UMass but there s an absolute degenerate that tended the ER on 2/16/24. Short black haired, white woman who blanketed my wife s symptoms with covid when yes she has covid but also had symptoms that justified blood work to rule out any other possibilities. I noticed an abnormality in her heart rhythm at rest not artifact which the degenerate claimed she was moving at the time of the blip. Told us a fever can climb as high as it wants and only rest would subdue. I asked if 105f was dangerous and she said no. People not drs. Like this need to have all credibility stripped and exploited to the max! The absence of an ethical obligation accompanied with unprofessionalism and disrespect are all the ingredients to a toxic care taker. Nothing else to add other than Clinton hospital has to reap the harvest and starts with her. One dead fly can and will ruin an entire bottle of perfume. The scumbags name is.. Dr. GALLETTAStay clear of this insensitive scrub if you want to get to the bottom of your emergency. If not you will end up at another ER due to a massive Misdiagnosis from a degenerate dirt merchant like GALLETTA!! Fact!
