PaddiAnn McAndrews has dedicated her life to the addiction recovery world. A world as we all know is growing at an alarming and scary speed. I first met her when my son was in trouble. Her name was always the first one that was mentioned - she s the best . Needless to say that s who I called. The bond and trust she has with our struggling children unlike any. My son had an instant connection w her. And 12 years later is still calling and checking in.What I later have learned is that she had also trained some of the best new comers to the field of addiction.I chair a parents group for family and parents of struggling children / adults. Her name comes up on a weekly basis as everyone s go to angel. For us and many she has saved countless lives and continues to strive to help the next suffering person.I am proud to be in her midst.Lone

My son needed help. I didn't know where to turn. A friend recommended Adolescents. Although we were not clients at the time, Patti Anne saw him that day. She interviewed him and came up with a plan which included immediate admission to a rehab facility. Patti Anne handled all the intake info, and explained to him that this was the best scenario for his success. I learned that counseling and support groups were crucial for the whole family. My son flourished under the care of her staff! He has since finished college and is currently in grad school. Having a child in crisis is traumatic. We needed guidance and education. Although it wasn't easy, Adolescents help was invaluable in navigating our road to recovery.

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates (A2) seemed like a wonderful place for my son to have an intensive outpatient experience. Calls before the intake appointment indicated that they were participating with our insurance for mental health issues. After the intake appointment and an in-person visit (with the owner), it turns out that this is not precisely the case. My son needed to be seen for mental health issues, and the facility and staff are only approved for substance abuse. They knew my son had no history of substance abuse. They are not approved for mental health due to the lack of a psychiatrist (I believe no psychologist either, only licensed counselor) on staff. The owner/counselor stated they thought he would be a good fit for the program, apologized for the coverage misinformation given, and would "work with us." We ended up leaving the practice after nine visits (a mix of in-person and group appointments) as they could never give us out-of-pocket costs/co-pays. They then called and stated they would charge my credit card on file, but they didn't have one. We refused to give a card over the phone, asked why there was no insurance submission, and asked for a statement. After which, we received a bill for full costs, with no insurance submissions and multiple calls for full payment. I didn't sign any paperwork indicating I am their billing office. The director of finance, also known as the entire billing department, refused to submit to insurance, claiming they were not legally able to. If you tell me you are a participating provider with my insurance (for mental health) and are not and know that you cannot submit for insurance reimbursement, I believe you are committing fraud. Stay away!

Hello Chris, thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the delay in our response, Patricia has continued to work with your insurance company for a better outcome. Unfortunately, we have not come to a desirable conclusion for either of us. Our team wishes the best for you and your family.

Adolescent Advocates saved my son's life ! When my son and I first met with Patty I wasn't sure if they would be able to help my son but not only did they provide the most supportive environment for my son but they know how to talk to and provide therapy to adolescents like no other place. My son is not only in recovery but thriving and I am so grateful to Patty, Troy, and the team at Adolescent Advocates for being the place my son came back to himself better than ever! It was a lot of work and he had to do the work but they provide the structure, guidance, and tools.

Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates saved my life.. When I walked in, I was fresh out of the psychiatric hospital dealing with a bipolar manic episode and severe depression. The team thought that I would be sent right back to a hospital, but gave me a chance. Thank God. The owner, Patti Ann, and one of the main therapists, Troy, have become two of my heroes and biggest influences. Troy's individual and group therapy sessions have taught me how to be a better, more positive man, and how to handle the obstacles life throws at you. I've been sober 160+ days and will never go back. I've learned how beautiful life can be sober and am going back to college in January at Rutgers. It was their belief in me that made all the difference. This is the best place ever. Disclaimer: you or your child has to be READY to change. But with their help, change is possible.

Adolescent & Young Adult Advocates (A2) helped two of my children with addiction issues. Patti Anne McAndrews is the founder and leader of A2. She is a consummate professional and she delivered her services and the services of A2 in the most selfless and dedicated way imaginable. Patti Anne and A2went well above and beyond my expectations of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). And I know many other parents and clients that have turned to A2 in times of crisis and need and, without exception, they have been provided the highest standard of care and absolute confidentiality in all cases.
