About Addiction Resource Council

Addiction Resource Council (ARC) in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, provides a variety of in-person and virtual programs to address problem substance use and help educate the surrounding community about substance use disorders. They also provide Narcan training and free overdose prevention kits.

DETOUR is a drug and alcohol program for people under age 21. It uses the PRIME for Life Program. It’s designed to challenge their beliefs and attitudes that are known to contribute to high-risk drug and alcohol use.

If you’re under 18, at least one parent is also required to attend a 2 hour webinar, but the parent does not attend the DETOUR class. This class is helpful for those who have gotten a ticket for underage drinking or possession of a controlled substance or are facing other discipline for substance use, as well as people interested in learning about prevention.

ARC also hosts a Victim Impact Panel at the Pewaukee Campus of the Waukesha County Technical College. The presenters are a small group of people who were victims of drunk driving tragedies. The program helps educate participants about the consequences of drunk driving and may be required by a DUI education program.

The UTURN program can be attended in person or virtually over Zoom. This is a four-hour suspension and ticket alternative for students caught using a nicotine product. You can also sign up if you’re under 21 and interested in quitting smoking. For participants under 18, at least one parent or guardian attends an online self paced class, but they do not attend UTURN with their child.

The Wake Up Call presentation is a walk through presentation of a teenager’s room that provides parents with practical information about more than 20 red flags that may indicate their teen has a substance abuse problem. The class can be done in person or virtually.

The Diverge program is for adults 21 years and older. It is a self-paced virtual program educating you about the risks associated with alcohol and drug use. It presents information from over 1,800 research studies using the PRIME for Life curriculum designed for people who might be making high-risk choices with drugs and alcohol.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

The goal of drug rehab in Wisconsin is to address drug addiction as a complex issue that involves physical, mental, and relational aspects. During rehab, treatment focuses on each of these areas and gives you the tools you need to achieve and maintain sobriety.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This place is really something else. ...if you have an opportunity to get an assessment anywhere else DO IT! Unless you want to deal with unprofessional, want to be counselors, who don't have a clue what they are doing and don't really care about your well being, then go there. But if you want to save yourself a lot of time and money FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE! THEY CARE ABOUT ONE THING. .....SCREWING YOU OVER AND SUCKING YOU DRY. by the time you are finished you'll have NO LISENCE, NO MONEY and you'll feel like you need treatment!
