The recent review that Harisa posted is very similar to to my experiences. I had been seeing Faduma Haji Ali (who is wonderful, caring, and excellent in her practice) for years. It seems that through the acquisition of ABHC by DiscoveryMD, Mrs. Haji Ali had been from what I assume removed from her role in the offices. I get it, things happen. What I don't get was the events that had occurred after. Imagine yourself receiving care from the same provider for years and suddenly, out of the blue, you receive this email.-Dear Client,We are writing to notify you that we, Associated Behavioral Health Care-ABHC, has joined Discovery Behavioral Health and re-established our practice as DiscoveryMD (DMD) of Washington .As a result of the transition, we assessed our service locations, staffing, staff specialties, service protocols, wait times, and levels of service. The assessment revealed that we should shift our practice focus to patients with depressive disorders. Our new service array will incorporate special tools such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), as well as mental health and substance use disorder counseling. Our North Seattle (Northgate) location closed on February 1, 2023. We will continue to operate our remaining clinics in Bellevue, Kent and Renton. Finally, our provider staff has changed and the provider you have been working with is no longer with our practice. With this shift in scope, type, and location of practice, we are unable to continue as your provider. Please contact your health insurance company to find a provider that takes your insurance company. If you need medication refills until you establish care with a new provider, please contact your primary care doctor who should be able to refill your medications for you. If the wait to get into your primary care doctor is too long, you may try an urgent care center. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.It has been a privilege to serve you and we wish you all the best.-Not a pleasant message to receive, right? The very next day, I visited their office and, I will admit, the staff in the offices were as nice as they could be given the situation. Regardless, I was essentially told "tough luck, there's nothing we can do for you anymore". I was given ZERO options in terms of meeting with a new physician in the office or assistance with medication management while searching for a new care provider.tl;drI received excellent care through ABHC for 5+ years while it was around, but this new company, DiscoveryMD, immediately kicked me to the curb in one of the coldest ways possible, an unannounced copy-paste email late in the evening. It's disgusting. MY ADVICE: check out ZocDoc and find a care provider there, they offer plenty of options and helped me find a new care provider quickly after this disaster unfolded. Stay far, far, FAR away from here.

I ve never experienced what I experienced at ABHC Kent. I was seeing Faduma for more than a year. She was such a great provider who was taking my issues seriously. She was the one who filled out my FMLA paperwork back in October last year (2022). I received a FMLA paperwork from my employer in March 2023 to send it to my provider to fill it out (it needs to be done every 6 months), faxed the paperwork to ABHC Kent on March 21st asking them to get complete and fax it to the fax number provided, with a long message explaining all I ve done in the past 6 months. I was waited till March 27th when I gave them a call to check if they took care of the FMLA form because the completed form needs to be returned to my employer on 3/31 in order to continue having FMLA available as needed. They told me they received the paperwork on 3/21 and I was discharged the same day because my provider (therapist) is no longer with them. Her last day was on 3/7. I told them I ve never received an information about my provider leaving their facility what they re supposed to do. After talking to someone, the lady told me she will give the form to another provider and asked me to call the next day (3/28) what I did just to hear the same thing what I ve heard the day before. I explained to that lady again what is going on. She put me on hold and after short period of time Sandra R. (didn t want to give me her last name) was on the phone telling me they don t have enough providers to help me with my paperwork. She told me to go to my family doctor to ask her to fill out the form (mental health related). I was very upset for what they did to me. Today is 3/29 and I have 2 days to get the paperwork filled out and sent back what is impossible. I can lose my job if I miss a day because I don t have my paperwork that will excuse me for it. This is the worst place I ve ever visited in my life. They re showing how much they care about people with mental issues and what s going to happen with them. Stay away from places like this!

If you are in need this place will not help you. The rules don't cater to people you have serious mental issues. This place puts policy over people

Accepted Insurance

Our Policy: DiscoveryMD – Kent works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact us to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Mental Health and Drug Abuse

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive way of stimulating the brain in order to help with symptoms of depression. TMS uses elecromagnetic coils to deliver magnetic pulses to the brain, which can improve a patient's mood and ease depression. It's often used when other depression treatments haven't worked.

I went here for anxiety and stress which was causing my appetite to decline. I was prescribed a high dose of something that all of reddit said had severe appetite loss which mine was getting worse. When I called go get off of this which can only be reduced by 10 MG every 2 weeks they told me I would have to wait for a appointment and could not do anything with out a appointment. Follow up dr. Was appalled at my high dose and said I never should of been on that.

Wouldn't recommend if you are a minority. Stick to a minority therapist or else you will get skewed assessment. They are racist.

Associated behavioral health has a questionnaire that ask what your pronouns are, I simply said my pronoun is dude. They gave me the third degree the woman had rainbow hair. I have never been discriminated against is hardcore as I've been discriminated against by these women that work is associated baby health. If you're a hard-working man don't waste your time. They're very bitter people

Poor in customer satisfaction, they require you with money right away, and the tests they might require you multiple times ,for the money of course. multiple visits is equal to more money income for company. more tests more cash of course.

I have had several appointments with Karen Krikorian at the Kent location. She is insightful, easy to talk to, and understanding. I feel like she is determined to figure out my medication combinations. She also has other suggestions that may help with my diagnosis. There is no pressure and she is very patient. Thank you for caring, Karen.
