About Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous provides group sessions in a private environment. The program supports clients’ recovery through shared experiences. Participants may connect with AA while receiving treatment in an alcohol or drug rehab. They learn how to develop belief in a higher power and gain insight into their addictions through group conversations in a fellowship setting to strengthen hope and help others in recovery.
AA is a 12-step recovery method that helps attendees achieve and maintain recovery. These steps use a model of changed behavior approaches that prioritize whole-person recovery with incremental steps. Participants will receive coaching through a sponsor and have support from the AA community, integrating physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual recovery. All meetings are anonymous and free of charge. These are available during the day, evening, and at night, including holidays and weekends.
There is no fee for AA meetings. The services are available at no cost to participants. In some cases, AA members may refer participants to other paid services for paid mental health, medical, and addiction recovery services. The cost of these services may be covered by major insurance providers, such as Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and others. Contact your individual provider for specifics as out of network benefits can change per plan.

Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
