My experience here was actually pretty good. The staff there are cool and fun to hang out with and to talk to. The only con about it is that I had to witness a few fights between a couple teens, but other than that the experience was pretty good, the food was great and I got good sleep for the entire 9 days I was there. I hope the staff including Des, Maryville, Shannon, and the rest of the staff are doing pretty good and I will miss them.

Elevate Additions Services gave me new skills for handling adversity that will assist me in my everyday life. A main component of the program focused on Mindfulness - being in the present not focusing on the future or past. This practice is similar to meditating and is helpful in clearing your mind and helping you to be ready to focus on a task at hand. I learned to forgive myself for my past actions and take responsibility for them. I gained a sense of confidence and self-respect by completing the various assignments in the curriculum. It was a very powerful program that I would recommend to anyone that is looking for a non-12 step approach.

Using the VA hospital system in any city, state is not the same. I had to move around to couch surf and homeless for over ten years ending up in states between California and Florida including Washington and Utah. I have had to restart everything over every time I moved and I learned a few things over those 10 years about doctor appointments and different appointments for eyes and blood work so let me begin by saying that if you show up at 10 am and it's not busy or 1 pm and it's a mad house, either way just tell them that you are using the VA transportation and you are on a scheduled pickup and they usually move you through pretty quickly.I can't say it's foolproof but it's a little bit of an edge for those complaining about long waiting for blood work. Just remember, don't set the bar too high of expectation, you get what you pay for, and if you don't like the VA then just pay for private health care.Oh, they get complaints but nothing like the VA hospital system.

My experience at the north Hollywood facility was amazing! Of course when you are coming to detox , you are not in the best mood , but I returned twice after leaving and relapsing and when arrived I was greeted with smiles and support. The staff tended to my needs and provided me with wisdom to help be successful in recovery. The ppl who you meet here will change your life and some will even feel like a part of your family . The staff really does care about you! All you have to do is take the first step and ask for help. On February 5th, I attended the Teen Challenge graduation event. Participants of the program shared their before and after stories about how they recovered from addiction and crime, which often led to homelessness or time in jail. This caused several of the participants to lose their children. With the help of Teen Challenge, they were able to regain custody and repair their relationships with their families. I do not work for Teen Challenge. I am simply a San Jose resident who wants to help our neighbors who suffer with addiction, crime, and homelessness. Teen Challenge is successfully doing this.
