About AA – Alcoholics Anonymous
The 12 step treatment model is based on a stages-of-change approach that prioritizes whole-person healing, including clients’ physical, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual recovery. Their primary treatment modalities include peer-directed group therapy. Meetings are anonymous, open to the public, and available 365 days per year, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday sessions.
Clients in 12 step recovery participate in robust life skills training addressing topics such as coping, self-care, trauma resolution, and relapse prevention. One-on-one recovery coaching is provided by a self-selected sponsor.
All 12 step therapeutic programs, including group counseling and recovery education, are available at no cost. However, peer referrals for additional medical and mental health services may be provided. Many mental health and addiction recovery specialists contract with major insurers, such as Aetna, Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, United Healthcare, and others. Contact your provider to verify coverage because out of network benefits can vary.

Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug rehab in Alabama provides medical or psychotherapeutic treatment for drug dependency. Methods of treatment often include a combination of medication, counseling, and recreational therapies.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
