About A Peace of Mind Sober Living – Men’s Home

A Peace of Mind Sober Living offers two residential homes for men and women who are recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. They’re both located in Riverside, California, a short walking distance from the grocery store, a library, and Riverside Community College.

Their homes are similar in size. The men’s home being 4000 square feet and the women’s home being 3000 square feet. I’m not certain why the men’s home is larger, but it could just be due to higher demand for men to be treated for addiction. Their homes seem quaint and charming enough, with some old fashioned furniture, albeit clean and tidy.

For the men’s group, you’ll be expected to attend five meetings per week if you’re not in school or working, or three meetings per week if you are enrolled in school or working. They accept some mental health cases, but it depends on the severity of the disorder. They put a focus on helping you recover from mental roadblocks and give you practical goals you can work on during your stay and for the future. In other words, they help you thrive before reentering society.

The women’s group has the same five and three meetings per week, and also have Bible study every other Monday. They also provide a recovery coach to some people who need it.

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
