About A Peace of Mind Sober Living Riverside

A Peace of Mind Sober Living - Men’s Home provides transitional housing and support services for people who are recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. They have a men’s home and a women’s home. The men’s home is in Riverside, California and serves adult males. They accept men from all walks of life, including ones who are on probation and parole. There are weekly drug tests to make sure you’re complying with the rules of the program.

This is a spacious, 4,000 square foot home that includes 10 bedrooms. There are also five bathrooms available and two of those are private. In addition to giving you a warm and safe place to stay, they also help your recovery by connecting you to local support groups that follow the 12 Step model, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. If you need more personalized support, there’s a certified recovery coach you can contact on an as needed basis.

One thing I really like about this place is that they understand how hard it can be to attend treatment and keep up with your demands at work and school. That’s why they tailor their plan requirements around your needs.

If you’re working or going to school while you live here, you only need to attend three meetings a week. If you don’t have any outside obligations, you’ll attend five per week. Once you’ve completed your plan and you’re ready to move back into your home and community, they’ll help you find a job and get back on your feet.

One man who lived here recently says he doesn’t know how he could have made it this far in his recovery journey without this home. He mentions that the program helped him form great relationships and introduced some much needed structure back into his life.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was a sponsor to a girl here and on her last day today August 18 I was on the phone with her before the decision to discharge her over a bag of her own clothing and the way the owner Jennifer and the house manager Jamie were raising their voice towards her were inappropriate and unprofessional. I was told they hung up in her mother s face and were giving excuses for their actions. She didn t have any previous right-ups and was being treated differently than the other house mates. I honestly believe the way they re running this program is illegal. Reading other reviews I can see she wasn t the only one with this experience.

2024 was a transformative year for me, and a big part of that was due to my time at A Peace of Mind. As a first-time resident in a sober living environment, I didn t know what to expect, but from the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed, supported, and understood. The house provided a safe and structured environment that was crucial for my recovery. The staff were compassionate, knowledgeable, and always available to offer guidance. They truly cared about my progress and went above and beyond to ensure I had the tools and resources I needed to succeed. What I loved most was the sense of community. The other residents became like family to me, and we supported each other through every step of our journeys. The group meetings, activities, and shared experiences helped me build strong, lasting connections that I know will continue long after leaving the house. This sober living house didn t just give me a place to stay; it gave me a fresh start, hope for the future, and the strength to continue on my path to sobriety. My bed was right next to the ice cold AC and I would sleep like a baby! I always wanted to be home. I love the Old Victorian look and feel. I can t thank the team enough for everything they ve done for me. If you or a loved one are seeking a supportive, uplifting, and empowering environment for recovery, I highly recommend A Peace of Mind.

Anything but peaceful. The owner says it quite often and loud that she's never been addict. She is rude, has old urine tests, which a faint line is a line, period. She gives you minutes to get to a clinic because she claims it's a positive test. This is an ongoing issue which she doesn't care to help or change, her sister & her are unprofessional as the sister will yell at the top of her lungs that tests are dirty, mind you, they are all coming out with vague lines which means it's negative. They will pick & choose who they like & not like. She makes life more difficult for a recovering addict, fresh out of rehab. There was an event for the women of the house, not for the owner & her family who profit off our insurance, they were giving away prizes to the recovering women & her family took prizes from the women of the house. She will kick women out if she feels like it, not because someone is using but simply cause she can. They have rats and the dryer does not dry your clothes, you use up all your quarters just to dry a load. I don't know why it just can't be fixed? But that's just me, if you don't want to be accused of using and always going to the clinic to test, while giving you 25 minutes heads up before the clinic closes, save yourself some peace & don't go here. They don't care about your sobriety.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I really don't see how I could have accomplished all that I have thus far if not for A Peace of Mind. I've made great relationships being here, I've reintroduced structure into my life being here, as well as reached milestones in my life I otherwise may have not been able to if not for this place.
