Avoid like the plague. If you really need help in the management of any serious mental health condition, I beg you to seek it elsewhere. Dr. Thein is excellent in his practice. However, no amount of knowlege, skill, compassion, or intelligence is worth the risk of dealing with his staff. Literally more harm than good. Actually, I would take my chances with the plague rather than expose anyone whose condition may be critical or delicate to this fiasco. By the way, I couldn't post this review until I gave this place at least one, completely undeserved, star.We are never promised one more minute. No matter how difficult, Every day is a gift and everything matters. You are very loved. Take good care of yourselves and enjoy.

I think Doctor Holman is nothing but a pill pusher, All he does is pass out pills. he has my mom so doped up that she doesn't know whether she's coming or going. I have said many times that I don't think she needs to be on the medications he has her on, but he seems to just up them to keep her on them. She's so out of it half the time I can't even talk to her. I have talked to other doctors about it and none of them will touch his Pills and take her off of them. She won't quit going to him because he has her believing that they are helping her.. He's making her an addic.......

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Dr. Holman and 3 Rivers are wonderful. Dr. Holman was able to treat my anxiety and panic attacks so that my panic attacks have fully diminished. When you see Dr. Holman you're greeted by the front office staff. If you have a copay or deductible, then of course you have to pay something, but once your deductible is met, you owe nothing. Another patient in the reception area told me that Dr. Holman was the nicest doctor she had ever met, and that we were lucky to have him. I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. During the office visits, Dr. Holman actually interacts with me rather than his computer screen. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone, as well as 3 Rivers Mental Health.

Incredibly apathetic and abrasive staff, and doctors, quite a fuss to handle; Terrible for anyone who thinks twice about what a doctor says.Staff do not care about you.Colby Wang will change your meds without any notice. If the doctor doesn't like you, good luck, the staff and doctor will harass you for requesting medication you need. They will continuously give you false promises, and you can actually taste the venom in the receptionists voice, especially Shelby's voice. If they don't like you for any reason, they actively will work against you, especially if you have personality disorders (Which they do not treat well).Having any kind of issue in the office will get you banned from the facility, forcing you out of medications that actually HELP with the issues you may have had. This place is awful, horrific practices, and clearly will use the law against you while actively breaking it (Psychiatrists must notify any change in medications, including whether or not they fill out a prescription for one.)I really really do not suggest this place. If you're a very mentally ill person, with personality, anxiety, and ADHD issues, do NOT go here.Edit: 9 months later, trying to get a new doctor, and they are refusing to release information on time. Damn I cannot suggest avoiding this place any more than I can.

When you wait for a couple of weeks for an appointment to fill your meds and 3 Rivers cancels that appointment 1 hour before the appointment time it s utterly inexcusable and unprofessional behavior. Now I will run out of meds before I find another doctor. Not cool, 3 Rivers not cool at all. Also, their billing department wouldn t give me written confirmation of insurance coverage before this appointment so that makes them suspicious also. If I could leave this review with ZERO STARS I would have.

Dr. Holman and the Three Rivers Psychiatry team have not only been instrumental in improving my mental health but have also shown that top-notch psychiatric care can be incredibly convenient. Despite our appointments being conducted over the phone, Dr. Holman's expertise shines through. His accurate diagnosis and the prescription of medication that has truly transformed my life for the better have left me thoroughly impressed. The convenience of phone appointments, coupled with his exceptional knowledge and care, make this practice stand out. I'm incredibly grateful for the positive changes they've brought into my life. Five stars for excellence and convenience!
